The RN-1079A is working for me, I get both distance and bearing info, so it seems there is some kind of issue with your setup. There also is the possibility of a database/scenery problem at your particular airport. Have you tried using the RN-1079A at other locations? Are you using the latest version of the plane, and if you are using the PC version, do you have any mods or third party liveries in the Community folder? What airport were you at and what frequencies were you using? Is this a new problem that has started after some change or update? In the below screenshot the C414 is sitting on RWY 35L at KCOS. I have tuned in a nearby VOR, BRK, on 112.5MHz on both Nav1 and Nav2 for the sake of comparison. Note the CDI on the HSI is centered on an OBS value of about 15 degrees, and the DME unit to the left of the HSI shows a distance of 9.8 NM. That is Nav1 data. Similarly, the RN-1079A shows a BRK bearing of 15.3 degrees and a distance of 9.8 NM. That is Nav2 data. So the Nav1 and Nav2 data agree and the RN-1079A is working. Note you can also select to display Nav2 data on the DME unit to the left of the HSI if so desired. Al Edited December 12, 20223 yr by ark

I think i cant upload url cause of moderator I explained above I was using the same frequencies for Nav1 and Nav2 so you could see I was getting the same results for both. The frequency in the GPS Nav standby makes no difference. Below I have taxied to the end of Rwy 20 at MMAN and have Nav1 set at 110.7 for the ILS and Nav2 in the RN-1079A set at 115.4 for the ADN VOR. The VOR is located off to the right side and a short distance down the 20 Rwy. As you can see, all is working. So my point is if this is not working for you, there seems to be a problem with your system, and we need to figure out what that is. There is not a general problem with the RN-1079A. There are thousands of C414 users, and to date I have not seen another report about the RN-1079A not working. You didn't answer my questions above -- it would be helpful to know what version # of the C414 you are using, and if you are using the PC version of the plane, do you have any mods or third party liveries in the Community folder? Does the Nav2 frequency show up on the RN-1079A display? If so, does the CDI on the VOR head below the Davtron clock respond to the Nav2 frequency as you turn the OBS course setting? And does the Davtron clock work? I'm asking because the clock is an HTML gauge like the RN -1079A. To post an image on AVSIM, you have to first save it to a picture hosting site like Flickr, etc., to get a URL for it, then back here click on Insert other media > Insert image from URL (lower right corner) and paste in the URL Al Edited December 13, 20223 yr by ark
