Connection between stream deck and AAO: some buttons work

Featured Replies

So I just downloaded an excellent PMDG 737-800 stream deck profile last night. used it and I will say it was amazing. Everything worked perfectly. I loved the HSI indicator and all button positions reflected what they were in MSFS.

Fired it up this morning, and only some of the button images were on there. Others were black, but they did work. Also the button positions seems out of sync: Light buttons on SD were in the on position but in MSFS they were in the off positions, but the buttons on SD still worked in that the affected the position in MSFS.

I reset the port on both AAO and SD. There is definitely some talking going on between all three (SD, AAO, MSFS) but it seems like SD is not getting feedback from MSFS in terms of button position, alt, or HSI. Ive tried restarting several times, but am at a loss for what it could be. All my firewall settings seem to be good and the AAO and stream deck plugins are updated as well.

I did place a "connection test" button in the SD panel and it does not show up as green so something is def. not working

thoughts? thank you for your time.,

What does that mean?

So what happened in between the first time and this? Did you update the PMDG plane or make any changes regarding the sim?

What I meant was that I changed the port on both AAO and SD just to make sure that wasn’t the problem. The only thing I did between the first time I used the profile and the second was that I installed a few more profiles for Fenix, FBW, etc.

I just want to reiterate that the buttons do work: I can switch on lights etc on SD and they move within MSFS. Its just that certain buttons that might for example show the APU dial won't show up. and that the buttons on the SD do not reflect the position that they are in in MSFS upon startup. Again, I'm not sure if that is how the SD works in conjunction with AAO. Upon startup will all the switches in SD read the positions the buttons are in in MSFS and switch to reflect those positions?

What did you change it to? Has it been changed on both ends? The port being blocked by another app is by far the most common problem. And maybe that app just wasn't active the first time?
Firewall or antivirus can do that too, but the first step should always be to change the port away from the rather common defaults.

I believe I changed it from 9080 to 6080 but I will try a port that is a little out of the ordinary. Thank you so much for chiming in, I really appreciate your time.

Just make sure that you change it on both ends - in AAO and in the StreamDeck Plugin.

so I did experiment with changing the port number. making sure it was the same on both AAO and the stream deck. The problem still persists. here are some screen shots that detail it:

As an example here is a profile for a simple single engine plane from Guenseli off of flightsim.to

the top image is what it should look like, the bottom is what appears on my SD

https://www.dropbox.com/s/pfyppmtvsc0wd0g/profile vs sd.jpg?dl=0

so most of the buttons are functioning: lights alt, brakes etc. but the things that are not functioning are items like flap position, wind, EGT, trim position, fuel level.

So becuase some of the buttons work, it seems like there is a connection between SD and AAO, yet if I install the "test connection" button from the AAO SD plugin, it is not green.

I will also add that the above profile from Guenseli and that there is no script associated with it.

I have made sure that i am running the latest version of AAO, SD, and the AAO SD plugin.

It seems to me that because some of the buttons do work, that it is not a port problem, but maybe im wrong? thank you for your help.

There are always scripts associated with Gueselis SD profiles, I have not encounterd a single one where you wouldn't have to import scripts.

Did you work through the AAO WebAPI Troubleshooting guide? What number is the port currently set to and how did you change it exactly?

Is the package "lorbysi-content-hooks" present in your Community folder and is it active?

so for that particular profle for the Gueseli single engine, there was no script. but i did try the 737 that he did. I also noticed that i might not have had the latest AAO verison, so i downloaded that, and now when i tried to upload the script via the AAO menu it give me the error message Import failed: configuration system failed to initialize.

I also noticed that I have both folders lorbysi-content-hooks and lorbysi-content-fippanel in two places: the community folder and the AAO program folder. not sure if that means anything.

Also, since installing the latest version, i cant seem to change the port on the SD device:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/flyzbbksuhvbgko/WEB api dialog.JPG?dl=0

I can click the SD plugin but no local host or local ip comes up, and if i click set port nothing happens. this is new since i updated.

also thank you for your patience with this. I'm sure you have alot of requests from customers so I really appreciate your time.

That is a general Windows message. Try deleting this folder:
\AppData\Local\LWR

That is by design, so you can copy them from the program folder to Community manually, should that become necessary (=when your Community folder is not where the useropts.cfg points to, or if it is not accessible to the AAO installer)

Sorry, I've never seen that before. Make sure that you get rid of the error message in item 1. "configuration system failed..." this usually means that AAO cannot read any XML files.

TBH this looks like your configuration is shot. Something must have gone wrong when you updated, but what that is supposed to be I have no idea.
Take a look into the manual, chapter "File handling". This will direct you to the folder where AAO stores the database and config files. All relevant files are stored in multiple generations, so if one is broken (size of 0 byte for example) you can replace it with one of the backups.

I’m not sure what was in that folder (LRW) but deleting that worked! Everything seems in working order. I downloaded two profiles and everything seems to function so thank you thank you thank you for being so patient with my problem. These SD profiles in conjunction with AAO really makes a huge difference in the whole flight sim experience!

The folder contains config files that Windows creates for apps of this type. The name of the folder is what the developer puts in the "company" property of his app, "LWR" in this case (for Lorby Wildfire Response).
