Noticed this last night in the Vision Jet flying in real-time darkness. I'd see another airplane on the TCAS inset about 25km away, but wouldn't be able to find it visually if I looked where it should be. But if I'd look way off to the side of where it should be, I'd then see the other plane's lights out of the corner of my eye. Then they'd disappear when I turned to face them again.  Is that normal or do I have a setting messed up?  I kinda suspect it's related to that thing during the day where I often don't see other aircraft lights from certain distances unless I'm looking at them through a sunshade. 

The setup is a Reverb G2.

I've experienced the same thing as well. Would like to know why also.
