Montreal CYUL OMBRE1 STAR WITH RNAV 28

Recommended Posts

i received a strange instruction while making an arrival into Montreal airport CYUL.

The OMBRE1 STAR have three ending waypoints : LONNA (for rwy 24R), SLOKA (for rwy 24L) and MEGTU (for rwy 06R and 06L).

I received instead an instruction to follow OMBRE1 to the GAUTI waypoint. But GAUTI is not part of OMBRE1 arrival. GAUTI is the first waypoint of the RNAV28. So I think the correct ATC instruction should be to follow OMBRE1 up to OMBRE (or OKOPO or MAIRE) waypoint followed by a direct (or vector) to GAUTI.

With the instruction provided, its not possible to know when ATC expect you to leave the OMBRE1 star to proceed to GAUTI. And its quite confusing as you dig the STAR plate trying to find GAUTI while its on a different approach plate.

Any thought on this ?

PS I use navigraph FMS Data manager and my pilot 2 atc database is current.

The OMBRE1 arrival has several segments.  The enroute transition segments that you mention, the Common segment that ends at MAIRE and the Segment for runway 28 that includes MAIRE to GAUTI.  GAUTI is also the first waypoint in the RNAV approach to Rwy 28.

ok fine. There is two charts for Ombre1 and indeed the second one is only for arrival to runway 28. My mistake. Thanks for the help.
