MCE with ATC

Featured Replies

Been using MCE now for 7 years with no problem in FSX then P3D then the other week I switched over to MSFS and after a MCE reinstall  it worked perfect except for one thing PF3 or native ATC is not working. Getting transmitting sound on my PTT switch but no one seems to be listening. ATC from tool bar works. Any ideas please.

I assume you're aware, when you switch to a different ATC system at the bottom of the ATC tab in MCE UI, you need to restart MCE before changes take place.

Regarding Native ATC:

Nothing will work unless MCE can see the content of the ATC window at any time. And that's why users with MSFS UI set to other languages than English, must set it to English US. That way, the options won't be displayed in Feench, German or whatever.

Unlike with Prepar3D or FSX where the callsign is retrieved from the loaded livery and always there, with MSFS, you need to set one up for the aircraft and it won't change unless you edit it.

Ask copilot "confirm call-sign" and "confirm ATC options". Assuming the ATC menu is showing various options, a TTS voice should read out the content at any given time.

Regarding PF3 ATC...

I suggest you read this thread.

Thank you for your reply. I can confirm all you said has been done and the PM is confirming my call sign. As for the cfg file that is showing the correct ATC and the flight plan beginning and end airports are showing in the main MCE menu box.

You're welcome.

Access to ATC options is vital, because you could speak something like "tower speedbird 473 standing by for takeoff" and although the command is recognized and shown in red font, no selection will take place in the menu unless MCE can see "request takeoff clearance from xxxxx"

For PF3, interaction happens via the "Clearance.log" found in \PF3\Logs\ folder.

For the log to be generated, open "PF3_MCE.inii" file in \PF3\ installation folder and set "Active=1"

All the clerances that start with currently assigned call-sign in PF3 are assumed to be directed at you. Others will be ignoed.

Are you up and running now with ATC, or still stuck?

Hi Gerald

First sorry for the delay in reply got called away unexpectedly. I did not know about the "clearance log" and when I check it was not there so I uninstalled and put a new wrap on and now we are good to go. Thank you for your help.
