February 21, 20233 yr Hey Everyone Wondering what the best way to descend is: Flying to KACK from KTEB, assigned the Deepo 1 arrival. It has an expected crossing, but no hard speeds or altitudes P2ATC gives this direction: Descend via the DEEPO One arrival with the GON transition To One Two Thousand One Hundred Feet Altimeter is Two Niner Six Six JET SPEED Two Five; If you start descending right away, you reach that in no time. How to you gauge when to start and when to end up? Should you be at 12,100 at at Saldy? thanks for any advice
February 21, 20233 yr Commercial Member Often, the TOD occurs after the start of the STAR. Once cleared to descend via the STAR, you can start your descent at any time and descend at any rate as long as you meet all the restrictions. So, if your TOD is after the first STAR waypoint, you can wait until you get closer to the TOD before you actually start descending so you stay at altitude longer. The TOD is calculated using the Descent rate in your flight plan. So, you could start descending sooner and do so at a lower rate to stay higher longer. Dave
