February 24, 20233 yr I'm not am online guru but have a few questions regarding MSFS: First why is the online synch process so problematic? I know of several scenarious for this that cause restarting the sim or even the OS. With that the synching process may or may not succeed but may require a MSFS restart to succeed. Second the requesting updates page can require over 15 minutes to go though. Why? A biggie for me is why a flight can take so long to load yet my download speed exceeds 30 mbs. I'm not complaining so much but just looking for solutions. sp Edited February 24, 20233 yr by Sky_Pilot071
February 24, 20233 yr I have been using MSFS from one of the first alphas and never had to reboot the OS because of it. I am using the Steam edition now, if that matters. Not sure what you mean with "online synch process", but if it refers to loading of terrain, weather etc. during flight this didn't have me to restart the simulator either. There are cases where servers are down (usually made aware of at the official forum) or your speed or the server speed is too low, but this only gives me a message which I have to confirm with OK. No restart required for me. The search for updates page has indeed been slow but has been much sped up in the recent SU12 beta. In most cases it's not even displayed anymore, as long as there are no updates available. Loading of the simulator is long, and IMHO still too long, yes. But this mostly doesn't depend on the Internet speed but reading from the SSD/HD. Contrary to announcements in the recent beta Changelog, I don't see much improvement yet. Educated people say, MS/Asobo should switch to Direct Storage to boost this. Aside the -FastLaunch option for skipping the introductory ads, we can't do much at this point, as far as I know. February 24, 20233 yr Author Thing about searching for updates is that it seemed to be greatly improved after SU9. Then... I only have 45 CM items installed but it seems that the update search is looking at all 500 items in my CM. If so it would be a huge waste of bandwidth. During the day my bandwidth is 30Mbs and it takes 15 minutes. At 1am my bandwidth is about 100Mbs and it takes about 5 minutes. Why should it take so long unless the MarketPlace is the bottlekneck? sp Edited February 24, 20233 yr by Sky_Pilot071
