FS2024 long loading time with AIG models for PSXT
Thanks for all your feedback, guys. I understand what I see is sort of normal. All my flightsim files live on a WD 4TB m.2 NVMe SSD so this shouldn't be the bottleneck. I just wanted to make sure it's not only me and I can live with the few minutes (yes, it's perhaps 3-4) and will stay with the AIG models. I'm not inclined to reduce the number of liveries just for a gain of perhaps 30 s. Kind regards, Michael

FS2024 long loading time with AIG models for PSXT
Hi, I have been using PSXT/RT for ages, mostly together with the AIG models. It works all fine, but the FS2024 loading times kept growing and are not several minutes (at the ~85% bar). Deactivating addons using the Addons Linker doesn't help. I found the culprit to be the 4 AIG folders always active as I always use them (for PSXT). These amount to fat 80 GBs (my main memory is 32 GB). After shifting them out of /Community, FS2024 starts quickly within less than a minute. This raises a few questions: (i) Am I the only one with this issue? I didn't find anything related on the AIG forum. (ii) Should I switch to other models (FSTL?). Although I keep reading the AIG models are the best ones. (iii) Any other suggestions to proceed? Thanks for any help and kind regards, Michael

VR 2026 Where are we and what do you recommend?
I am sure they did a couple of months ago, actually there were several add-on packages available. Seemingly all these were discontinued now. Kind regards, Michael

VR 2026 Where are we and what do you recommend?
The Crystal Light could be ordered with prescription lenses (which i would need, too) but this offer seems to have gone now, if I didn't overlook it. Kind regards, Michael

VR 2026 Where are we and what do you recommend?
I am also on the fence of buying a new headset (still on the Reverb G1). The Quest seems to be a good offer, but why does nobody mention Pimax' offers? Basically, they provide (within the named price tag) the Crystal Light and the Dream Air SE, should it ever materialize. According to what I read, the Crystal Light is optically/electrically fine, but even more clumsy than my G1. The Dream Air SE will be even better, and (with < 140 grams) certainly not be clumsy - but no one knows if it ever will be available for shipment. For those in the know: How do the Quest 3 and the Crystal Light compare? Kind regards, Michael

Getting mail notifications again
Hi, I didn't receive mail notifications on topics I subscribed to since July 2024. I tried several measures, including changing mail address, was even in contact with @Bob Scott who told me at a point about a software/configuration change, but nothing did help. I was not banned, I could mail, and I received notifications from other fora like the MSFS official fora and ORBX, just not AVSIM. I finally lost interest in AVSIM and - for some more reasons - in flight simulation in general. Now, out of a sudden, I keep getting mail notifications again starting January 25. This message is to i) Inform those responsible that the measure they obviously took, has been successful, ii) Thank them cordially for working on this, iii) Telling those interested I might even start posting on AVSIM again, iv) Will make a donation towards AVSIM as an acknowledgement. Kind regards, Michael

Thank you. This doesn't guarantee anything (obvisouly) but is the best we could achieve at this point. Kind regards, Michael

Potential improvements for sky colors
At least one of the Community Managers could acknowledge having digested this and informed the devs. Only Speed1994 as a Forum Manager provided a positive feedback, but (I think) forum managers as volunteers don't have direct contacts to the devs. Kind regards, Michael

I Have Decided To Buy FS2024
This is my feeling, too. The best they could do would referring to a detailed announcement to be made at next week's FSEXPO. Which would of course presuppose, they are willing to give one there. Kind regards, Michael

As long as they are available elsewhere. Carenado's are not. Some (few) sceneries as well. Kind regards, Michael

Marketplace vs Simarket vs Developer vs Orbx purchases?
I only tried this once time ago (this was when we had issues with the WU PG cities) and don't recall detail. However, I doubt you can move the complete Official Folder as such, rather you make another folder (say /My Offical Folder Addons) where elements from the official folder can be shifted to and are linked from that place to the Official Folder. Basically, it's the same way as it's done with the Community Folder. In any case, I would take this option with a grain of salt. That's why it's under Advanced. Kind regards, Michael
