March 17, 20233 yr Every time I take off VFR the tower gives me clearance to change frequency. This happens even in the slow Cessnas so it has nothing to do with climbing too fast or leaving the class D horizontally. I checked the radius settings and I believe tower radius was set to 5 nm. Any idea why ATC wants me to switch frequency long before leaving their airspace?
March 17, 20233 yr Commercial Member When climbing out, after you pass 1500 ft AGL, Tower will pass you off to the next controller or release you with the "frequency change approved", even though you haven't exited the lateral radius. Dave
