Did the Last Update Finally Nuke the C208B Mod?

Featured Replies

After AAU1 the C208 Improvement Mod still worked well - I probably made about a dozen flights with it and had no issues.  I loaded her up last night for the first flight since the WU and it's a mess!

Every time I spawned I was looking through the pilot's sunglasses and couldn't get rid of it.  I finally found a post about setting the pilot's weight to 0.0.  That got rid of it, but there is now a copilot avatar in the right seat - I don't know where that came from.

The control surfaces appeared to respond properly but the throttle connection appears to be tanked.  The options were still set as before but it now doesn't move through the proper range - reverse thrust also doesn't respond properly.  Too bad.  The mod made this a good aircraft.  I went ahead and made a flight with the default, but it's really, really bad - though it can be flown and the Garmin is functional, it doesn't even turn on properly.  Guess I'll have to set this aircraft aside for a while.

That's tough.  Hopefully the mod author can redo it.

If you don't mind spending a bit of cash, the Black Square mod for the C208 is absolutely superb.  It is analogue though.  I add the FTSim+ sound pack and I love the whole package.

Thanks for the info - I may do that.  One of the main things I liked about the mod was having the full functionality of the NXi to assist in approaches to remote strips that had no instrument approach.  I can still do this with the Kodiak but it was great to have that functionality in the C208B for larger payloads and appropriate runways.

The author of the mod has discontinued support - maybe someone else will pick up the gauntlet...

@RandallR  This is just out.  not sure if it is what you are looking for.

It is the same guy who does the DC-3 mod and a few others.  He seems to get a positive response.
If you look in the change log it is quite extensive - I was going to post it here but it is quite long.

It also has a really good POH in the documentation - 846 pages - quite a lot to get through!

Many thanks!  It looks to be exactly what I was looking for.  The previous mod was wonderful but it sure appears to be tanked and that author is definitely not going to continue support.

I'll give her a good test in the next day and will report back.

I'm happy to report that the performance is now close to where it was with the original mod - thanks a lot for this.  It's going to take a few more flights to get her tuned.
