How to copy or transfer joystick settings?

I know exactly what you mean. I tried that.  I clicked the left and right arrows to look for the file and there are only three of them: the default, the default for a helicopter, and the current joystick. The new copied file is not showing up as a selection. I was hoping it would show up as a 4th option, but there are only those three.

I don't know why MSFS makes it difficult, but I found a solution.

They say there's "two ways to skin a cat".  In this case the cat is MSFS. Using Windows Explorer, I simply deleted the old file and renamed the restored or copied file the same name as the file I deleted. And it worked.
