XP12 - request arriving runway

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

i am running into this quite a lot, especially on long STARs:

while approach I am getting the expect runway approach message which is fine. But then when I am closer to the destination airport, let’s say 20-40nm, I am usually checking the actual runway in use by traffic global (which quite some time is different from p2atc) and then want to ask for the same runway in p2atc using the request arrival runway Dialoge. This does work fine sometimes, but when I already got a clearance for specific runway from atc, they simply ignore my request and don’t answer to it at all.

is there a way to change this behavior and always reply to the request of a specific runway?

i just want to avoid landing in opposite direction to the traffic global traffic.

thanks

If you check runway in use before you start the STAR or descent, you will get it approved in most cases.

If you wait until later, or something changes after you're on the descent, or cleared for an approach with a transition, you can request vectors to a specific approach for any runway and you'll get it.

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t think about asking for vectors, will try next time!
would be maybe nice to implement this and automatically get confirmation + vectors when asking for another arrival runway once passed a star entry instead of silence and being ignored from atc 😁
