Saitek Multipanel and PMDG 737

Featured Replies

I bought this software to try to rework some of the functions on the Saitek Multipanel.  Basically make the flaps switch the autopilot disconnect and have the trim wheel adjust VS up or down.  The flaps switch trick was pretty easy and helped me learn my way around events but the trim wheel has me banging my head .  I've spent the last 3 evenings wasting hours trying to get this to work but no luck.  I have also noticed that no values show up on the multipanel screen and the buttons do not light up.  I used to get values and light up buttons with the Saitek MFSFS 2020 plugin.  That said, the values never matched what was on the 737 MCP and Ive spent hours looking for a solution to that as well.  I've seen comments suggest that only SPAD can do it but I thought SPAD was a little pricey for such a simple task and was hoping that AAO could do most of what SPAD does.

There is nothing simple about this task. In AAO the MultiPanel logic alone is +1000 lines of code, out of 50.000 for the entire app. Making an app like AAO costs roundabout 200000 Euro. It can do everything - but not without help from the user (or rather "the community"). Events and Variable names have to be figured out, RPN scripts written, etc.

What you have to do is to replace all events and all variables that the MultiPanel uses by default, because PMDG does not utilize the default ones from the sim. That is why the buttons don't work and the values are wrong. Doesn't matter in which app you do that, it has to be done. Or somebody else did it for you, and there already are profiles or templates around (don't really know).

If the screen is blank, that is usually a problem with the Windows Enhanced Power Management. Start AAO "As Administrator" and use "Tools -> Windows 8/10 Enhanced Power Management" to turn it off. Then make sure that the Saitek Panels are enabled in the "Hardware" menu.

This is a template for the Saitek MultiPanel in AAO.

Import it, then disable the SaitekPanels, assign the template to the current aircraft (using "Merge" when asked) then enable the panels again.

In this template LNAV is assigned to the "REV" button.
