question re VisualXPUltimate and/or clouds

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

just in the process of setting up my XP-12 system to run alongside my MSFS. I've mostly been using MSFS since it arrived but I also got XP-12 when it came out, and I've found myself using it quite a bit recently. I like them both, for different but sort of similar reasons.

I've been setting XP up to use various bits and peices from my old XP 11 setup, and most of the scenery I've tried so far seems to work ok, particularly Orbx's True Earth, I'm also sticking the SimHeaven stuff on there, and the V_Sims Ortho packages (I had Forkboy's stuff on XP11) and the combination of all that stuff is looking great.

My one issue at the moment is the clouds though. They  look a bit marshmallow-like and unconvincing to my eyes. I've just seen the VisualXP ultimate package on the org store, and wondered if anyone here has used it or got any useful advice about it. The samples shown on the site look ok, if not amazing. I'm guessing thie product is essentially just a bunch of LUA scripts with a fancy interface, but that's ok if it does the job. I'm past the point of wanting to play with variables and scripts these days.

So any comments or suggestions for any other cloud replacement stuff gratefully received. Oh, and it is really the clouds/visuals I'm interested in - I'm not bothered about accurate/live/historical weather or indeed weather in any way.

From what I have seen here, my understanding is that I may be out of luck until 12.06 arrives, and if that's the case, so be it.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Hold off on spending money on addons to tweak the visuals, at least until after 12.06 has been out.

Try some of the free Lua scripts available on XP.org instead. No high risk for loss of investment with those.

Thanks for the suggestion, Bjoern. I found a couple of things that look like they should do pretty much the same as the payware package so I'll give them a try. Still in the process of grabbing and setting up the ortho packages at the moment, but hopefully in the next few days.
