recovering from a mistake

When on a STAR, not yet descending, I garbled this "...with you flight level ..."

P2A heard and responded:

Recognized Speech: AMERICAN Ninety One With you on Final to Five Zero 16:54:54
Stopped Listening
HandleInitialContact 16:54:54
SpokenRandomGreeting 16:54:54
HandleInitialCenterContact 16:54:54
CheckSquawkCode 16:54:54
HandleOnFinalContact 16:54:54
ControllerChanging: False : 07/08/2023 16:54:54
InterruptAudio in SayPhrase: AMERICAN Ninety One   good evening .  Call ten mile final Two Six  Roger. Change To advisory frequency approved.  Report field In sight Or cancel IFR When On the ground.

I never got P2A handling me for a descent.  Question:  is this recoverable with some other magic phrase?

Probably not with just a phrase.  The crash recovery procedure usually works:

  • Disconnect/Reconnect P2A
  • File your flight plan, making sure it is the same as what you had been cleared for.
  • Check that the radio is tuned to the Center controller.  In most cases it will be.
  • Make the normal initial contact call. If descending, it would be "<CallSign> descending to <previously cleared altitude>".  Otherwise, "<CallSign> at FLight Level xxx"

You should then get a new squawk code and things should progress normally from there.
