Total disaster after installing Pilot2atc

Featured Replies

Hi guys!

Recently I installed an evaluation copy of p2atc both in my laptop and PC.

I tested the software in X=plane 11 first with a grounded aircraft to get used to the program and then set mic and headset and it seems all fine and working until i made my first flight.

Tested with Zibo mod B737 and Jardesign A320 and both planes and in both computers boy they are all messed up, they are incontrollable now.

Zibo disconnects autopilot Speed, knobs won't work and manual throttle becomes inestable with a bunch of alarms alerting.

Jar A320 also disconnects autopilot which is a mess trying to set on takeoff and disengages everything once you begin to setup your landing.

I noticed that when installing P2atc it said it will override some TARGET parameters which I didn't watch closely enough since I don't used target software but it is installed.

Can anyone  help me on this? I have tried to disable many plugins specially GIZMO to check for but it has been impossible.

It seems to be a conflic in some place I don't know of and I am a well expericed sim pilot on those planes so please only valid suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

The first thing I would do is be sure that you have XPUIPC version 2.3.8 installed.  Higher versions have caused issues.

XPUIPC Download Page (schiratti.com)

P2A, for the most part, only reads values from XPUIPC.  The only writes that could have even a remote chance of causing problems are the Copilot changing frequencies and the transponder code.  Turn these options off and see if that helps.

You could also remove the P2A-XPLink plugin, if you installed it.  It's possible that it is affecting your framerate which could be affecting the aircraft performance.

Ok.

In order to fix the issue i uninstalled p2atc completely and reinstalled the last XPUIPC i think it is the 2.3.8 version.

So, I will try again with the new installations and let you know as I don't have the p2A-XPlink plugin installed. Surely, the performance was clearly affected. Let me check and I will let you know.

Regards Dave.

Also I re-instaled TARGET software. Let us see what is going to happen./

Hello Dave, I manage to make it work not that well at all (still throttle issues) but it helped to delete all joysticks and quadrants configurations.

I tell you, I really couldn't figure out how a software like this (which I found nice) can have so many issues and without advising them properly.

But I will keep working in order not to re-install XP again.

P2A has nothing to do with throttles or any other aircraft controls.

I am aware of hundreds of users using the planes you are talking about without any problems from XPUIPC version 2.0.3.8 or P2A.

Something else is going on in your installation.

It is possible that you are running out of Memory or CPU/GPU resources only when you start P2A.  You need to have at least 32GB.

Hi Dave. Nice to hear from you and thanks.

Yes, I understand what you mean.

But the issue here is that I installed in 2 computers, 1 laptop and 1 PC and in both computers i had the same issue. Planes going crazy with throttle and autopilot issues even going to a dive spin when app button was pressed.

My PC is an i7 @3.4Ghz with 32GB RAM and 1T HDD and dual Nvidea 1070 cards. The laptop is only 16GB but almost the same performance as the PC.

So I don't think it is an Out of Memory issue.

Interesting is that I unistalled P2A and re-installed XPUIPC and RAAS-2 and all the joysticks profiles. Then everything went back to normal.

I wonder what may have happened if i did everything without uninstalling P2A. I really am interested in the software but I unfortunately don't have the time to install it again and afraid to worsen the simulator again.

Maybe a plug in...

What do you think?.

The latest Beta of P2A (3c) has a new X-Plane plugin but it is only for Traffic.

So I would check your plugins and remove any named P2A_XPLink.  You can always add them back later.  Also, make sure you have version 2.3.8 of XPUIPC because later version do have some issues.

Then delete the AppConfig.xml file located at

c:\users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Settings\AppConfig.xml
where <UserName> is your PC user name.
Portions of the path may be hidden by default, so be sure Windows Explorer has Show Hidden Items checked in the View tab.

This will set all the Button and HotKey settings to nothing, so P2A will not be able to take any actions whatsoever with X-Plane, other than reading the information about your aircraft and attempting to change radio and transponder settings through XPUIPC, if you initiate them from P2A...which I would avoid at first.

Then see what happens when you try and connect.

Thousands of users around the world are using P2A with X-Plane with no issues, so starting with a basic install and no Button or HotKey settings might let you isolate what is going wrong in your setup on the 2 PCs.
