Problems in trial

Featured Replies

Hello from the Czech Republic!

I am flying in MSFS with NeoFly 4 career and using Sky4Sim, but nothing else. I was really excited when I found out about Pilot2ATC because the default sim ATC was incredibly irritating. I am flying in sims for couple of years but I am newbie when it comes to ATC communication.

I was willing to pay the full price, but firstly, I wanted to test it to see if it's truly worth it, and according to forums, it really is.

However, my personal experience was really frustrating. Now, as I am at the end of the trial period, I really want to know if I was doing something wrong or if it is just the state of Pilot2ATC.

Missing airports. I think I did everything according to the manual - downloaded MakeRunway, ran MakeRunway, then ran P2A Taxi Mnt, imported scenery, found the MakeRunway folder, imported taxiways, imported gates, closed P2A, opened P2A (everything running as administrator). But then, NeoFly career sent me to Ukraine, to UKLD, and P2A couldn't find it, and the same happened with nearby airports like UKTU, UKSA, UKBE, and some others. Why can't P2A find airports that are in MSFS? I thought that MakeRwy somehow exported them from MSFS and made them ready for P2A. Or did I do something wrong? If this is normal or if I need some other payware for this to work, it seems like a big problem.

Does P2A know about the weather in the simulator? I just ran a mission from UKLC, and the wind was 328 at 13 kts. In the P2A flight planner, I set the departure airport without SID, because there wasn't any. At the parking, I asked P2A for IFR clearance, and ATC said departure RW06, not RW24. Why? Is there any way to force ATC to send me to a different RW?

With the same flight plan as in 2, ATC didn't say "hold short of RW06" but something like "call when number one at departure." For me, it seemed weird, but this is an uncontrolled airport, so okay. However, when I stopped at the hold-short line for RW06 and asked for IFR release (even if I used the "SayIt" function), ATC responded with "say again with departure runway," and I couldn't force it to release me, so I was stuck. Again, what did I do wrong?

Today, I am even more frustrated with P2A than with the default sim ATC, and I don't get it because it looks so perfect. It seems like it should be just the ATC I was looking for.

Thanks for any clarification and help. I am sorry for my bad English, and if I am just doing everything wrong.

Airport data is taken from the AIRAC data provided by Navigraph or NavDataPro.  Importing using MakeRunways, updates the taxiway definitions, and if you check the option to "Import New Airports from MakeRyws" then small strips that are not in the AIRAC data get imported.

P2A uses NOAA real weather by default.  If you set the SIM to use real weather, then the weather should match fairly closely.  You can also set the option in Config to "Match SIM Runway Selection", which will try and determine what runway is being used by AITraffic.  That only works in some situations, so you can manually set the Departure or Arrival runway in P2A.  Open the SID selectin window, check the "Force Dep Rwy" option and press Set Runway.  It will change the runway, without adding a SID.

For an IFR Release, you need to say "<CallSign> is number one for departure, runway 06, request IFR Release".
