Difficulty installing RC into P3dv5.3

Recommended Posts

HI all,

Firstly I am a long time user of RC4. I also had it installed into P3dv5.3....then my SSD failed and as well as having to do a fresh install of Win 10, I also upgraded my pc.  So now, when I try to install RC, I am being asked to point to my FSX exe.  Now I know you have to try and fool it so I copied my P3D exe and renamed it to FSX in the p3d root folder which is on a separate drive to my OS.  It goes through the motion of extracting the files and then stops to say that FSX exe is not found.  The actual error message reads as follows....

 installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.152

Looking in registry for FSX install path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0

Parameter"SetupPath"

...NOT found! Asking user to find FSX.EXE instead...

So, at the moment I am stuck.  Can anyone help, maybe Ray Proudfoot could respond.

Many thanks,

Rory Hamer

Hi Rory,

Firstly, don’t go with the FSUIPC install. It’s years out of date. Get v6.2 from here.

https://forum.simflight.com/topic/80977-updated-modules/

The dummy FSX.exe can be a renamed text file. It just looks for the name, no more.

Install FSUIPC first and then run the RC installer. It should work. Five years since I did mine so memory is a little rusty.

Yeah you need FSUIPC6 for P3Dv5.  P3Dv4 is mainly for FSX/FSX:SE and very old P3D versions.

Thanks for the reply.  I do already have fsuipc 6 installed, version 6.2, a registered copy, so I'm unsure why it comes up with that error.  How do I avoid the fsuipc install?  I've been installing RC4 from a downloaded copy that I purchased years ago.  I do have a cd version knocking around somewhere too.

Many thanks,

Rory

Rory, what’s the path to your P3D root folder? Is there an option during the install to bypass the install of FSUIPC?

The version in the locked topic here is probably the same as your CD. But try it as it’s the last ever version.

My p3d is installed to my D drive.  There is no option to bypass fsuipc during the install.  I have got a little further now though. I've managed to install it but I'm now getting the 713 error, missing msstdfmt.dll. I've downloaded the dll file and installed it into windows system32 and rebooted but the error still keeps coming back, this happens when I select a flightplan.

I've finally managed to sort it!!  Although I had placed the dll into wow64, I still had to register it.  Many thanks Ray, RC is a must have for me, thanks for all your help Sir
