August 2, 20232 yr Can't load MSFS database? So I just updated to the latest version of the Little Navmap, I updated from a version that is more than a few months old. I went to reload all my databases, I use X-Plane 11 and 12, MSFS, P3Dv5 and FSX:SE, I was able to load all databases fine except for one, the MSFS database. When I open the little Load Database window and try to select the simulator I want to load from the little drop down menu, MSFS is not there, all other sims are there but not MSFS so I have no way to select MSFS to load the database. What is strange is that it is showing MSFS in the drop down menu when I select the Scenery Library option at the top menu bar. I don't get it. I would greatly appreciate some help, thank you.
August 2, 20232 yr Now I'm also having an issue where Little Navmap will not connect to FSX for flight tracking, instead I get an error message. I checked and the FSX/P3D tab I see is now gone from the Connection window. On top of that, I noticed when I scanned FSX database, it's now showing less airports than before even though I haven't uninstalled any scenery and I did make sure to check the "Read inactive or disabled Scenery Entries". Something messed up with either this update or something went wrong when I reinstalled it, I'm not sure what's going on here. Edited August 2, 20232 yr by Kalnon

LNM shows MSFS in the loading dialog if the simulator was detected on the computer. MSFS is shown in the drop down menu with suffix "no simulator" if a database was found but not the sim. This is probably your old database file showing up there which loaded successfully. No idea why MSFS is suddenly not detected. Did you move the simulator or reinstall it? This FAQ describes how MSFS is detected, if it helps:https://albar965.github.io/littlenavmap-faq.html#msfs-scenery-library Otherwise I'd need you log file to look at the issue (https://albar965.github.io/contact.html). 4 hours ago, Kalnon said: Now I'm also having an issue where Little Navmap will not connect to FSX for flight tracking, instead I get an error message. The actual error message would be helpful 😉. You have to use the 32-bit version to connect to FSX (a 32-bit simulator) and the 64-bit for MSFS. You can install both and use them alternately. You can try to install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables mentioned here: https://albar965.github.io/littlenavmap-faq.html#no-simconnect Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
August 2, 20232 yr Something else coming into my mind: FSX is required to have the SP2 or acceleration installed. Otherwise LNM will not connect. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
August 2, 20232 yr Thank you @albar965 for you reply, I appreciate it. I did not reinstall or do anything else with MSFS anytime recently. I did however just reinstall P3Dv5 to update to 5.4 just before I installed the latest LNM version if that matters. In the Scenery Library drop down menu where it does show MSFS, it says in parenthesis next to it, "(prev. version - reload advised, no simulator)". I have FSX:SE which I is basically the same thing as FSX with acceleration pack and I had no problem connecting it to FSX:SE before or P3Dv5 for that matter. The error message I received basically said that I was using the wrong connection tab to connect to FSX. It's not showing the connection tab for FSX or P3D (I think they where both the same tab before). This is what the connection window looks like for me now: The FSX/P3D tab is completely missing now. I will try repairs using the C++ Redistributables and then try reinstalling LNM again, see if that helps. If you or anyone else has any other advice, I'm all ears, thanks. August 2, 20232 yr Well, reinstall didn't go well, I'm having same issues except now MSFS is completely missing from the Scenery Library drop down menu as well this time. Is it possible to download older versions of LNM? Maybe I'll have better success with an older version.
August 2, 20232 yr You have to use the 32-bit version for FSX and P3D. FSX SE is no issue and should work right away. The connection tab is one of the differences in the 32- and 64-bit builds. One says "FSX and P3D" and the other build as in your screenshot shows MSFS. You can download all older release here: https://github.com/albar965/littlenavmap/releases Scroll down to "Assets". Best would be if you start the 64-bit version, quit it and then send me the log file. Then I can check why MSFS is not found. Builds explained in the user manual: Quote 3.2.1. Builds There are two builds of Little Navmap and Little Navconnect for Windows available: Windows 64-bit: For MSFS and all X-Plane versions. Download file is LittleNavmap-win64-2.8.2.zip for example. Windows 32-bit: For FSX and Prepar3D. Download file is LittleNavmap-win32-2.8.2.zip for example. You can see the Windows build type in About Little Navmap and in the Window Title (64-bit or 32-bit). Note that Little Navmap and all related programs are inter-operable across the network (Little Navmap and Little Navconnect) as well as the X-Plane plugin (Little Navmap, Little Navconnect and Little Xpconnect). Also both versions share the same settings and databases. You can switch from one version to another without problems. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap

Builds explained in the user manual: Alex Sorry I missed that part, I see you said that earlier and I missed it. I'm guessing this 64-bit version is new? I was using the same version for about 6 to 8 months and it included all simulators except X-Plane 12. I will make sure to install both versions then. I still don't get why MSFS is missing and it doesn't detect it now though. I have installed the 64-bit version it seems. I've been using LNM for over two years now, I never heard of it until a Steam friend told me of it. For years I was looking for an app just like yours to make it easier to setup flight plans. It is a tedious process without LNM. What was hard for me was trying to figure out where in the heck to fly because I had no knowledge of hardly any airports or where they are located and I had a difficult time trying to visualize my flight path. LNM allows me to actually see and visualize my flights and my flight plans in ways I couldn't before and it made it easier to understand how to enter and see all the different types of approaches as well as SIDS and STARS. I love the StaminTerrain map because I can actually see and examine the layout off all the terrain in high detail when I bush fly. LNM is a godsend and thank you so much for all of your work in making this app possible. It is the only way I plan flights and I would never, ever want to go back to doing it the old ways again. I've even donated what little I can here and there because I think LNM is that good. Thank you so much for all your hard work and effort in making this app possible. There were quite a few updates and the 64-bit/32-bit was introduced with 2.8.something. Get the latest 2.8.12 with installer and install both for FSX, P3D and MSFS. But even the old version should have detected MSFS. Really send me your log if all else fails with 2.8.12. See link in post above. And thank you a lot for the kind words! Appreciate it. See https://albar965.github.io/contact.html Alex I have not installed or reinstalled anything on my pc recently with one exception, I uninstalled P3Dv5.3 and installed 5.4. I use many simulators which can be frustrating getting everything to work in all of them. Sure, I can send a log and more detailed information, should I contact you by email then? I don't see any way to upload files to this forum. Also, please can you tell me the location of the log file? Thanks. *BTW You deserve the kind words, just please, keep up the wonderful work. It even works with FlightGear for crying out loud, what more can you ask for. 😄 Edited August 3, 20232 yr by Kalnon
