One that comes to mind pretty quickly is aircraft shadows. Lightens up that dark cockpit real quick.

The main reason I prefer RDShade over Envplus is that you can download presets made and uploaded to a website by other users.  I am still learning how to adjust all the settings and what they do but in the mean time I downloaded a few awesome looking presets that I can apply without having to know how to adjust anything.

What you do is after you download and install RDShade, open it up, then I strongly recommend you save the current default settings as a default preset so you can always revert back.  Then, on the first page of the RDShade app, you will see a button named "Download presets" in the lower left of the app page, click that button and it will open your browser to the website.  You will have to create a free account but then you can just download any preset file that looks interesting to you.  You open the preset file in RDShade, make sure to apply, then open your sim and fly away.

I like to switch between different presets but  the one's I probably like the best are called "PilotJeff_Realistic_Preset" (for a more realistic look) and "EA Ultimate Preset 1.3" (gives a much brighter, bolder and more vivid look to everything).  There are others that are very good too, it's all about personal taste but I'm positive that you will find one or more that you like.

No it does not.  HDR is only needed if you have an HDR capable monitor, if not, then you don't need to enable it.  When RDShade asks if you want it enabled and you don't want to, just click no.

No problem, I hope you enjoy the presets.

RD Shade tip :  While adjusting settings I discovered that the tweak for ‘cockpit brightness’ works great - but its the lower numbers that increase the brightness,  not higher.  I applied a 0.8 to this tweak and both FS Labs & PMDG cockpits just popped.

If that was in the manual, I probably missed it.  But being able to apply & preview shader mods while in the Sim (without having to restart it to see the effects) is what sold me on this tool.

I’m using Envtex, ASP3D, ASCA & RD Shade on P3D 5.4.  Excellent results & I’m just getting started.

rgds, JB

9800x3d, ASUS TUF x870, 64GB G.Skill DDR5, MSI Ventus 4080, HP Reverb G2 VR, FlyVirtual.net, Private Pilot SEL rating, subLogic FlightSim 1983 & every release since

Yes that setting helps a lot.  The main reason I got a reshade too at all is because P3Dv5 looks absolutely terrible by default, especially the cockpits.  By default, the cockpits are so dark that I have an extremely hard time seeing the instrument panel gauges, switches, knobs, etc.  RDShade was the very first add-on I ever purchased when I first installed P3Dv5 because I couldn't stand the default look.

I'm so glad you are enjoying RDShade and you found a preset you like to start you out with.  Without a reshade tool I would probably never use P3Dv5.

Performance has been much improved with the v5.4 update.  I used to have that dreaded microstuttering issue that so many P3Dv5 users complained of in the past and I could never find a way to get rid of it but since I updated to P3Dv5.4 it runs as smooth as butter now.  Finally, I can actually enjoy the sim without any extremely annoying performance problems 😀
