P2ATC Issues With No Response

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have ongoing issues with P2ATC seemingly not responding to requests etc. I posted another topic where I thought it was losing connection with X-Plane but I don't think that's the issue.

So 2 issues for example:

Yesterday all was fine until I got to the hold short point and informed to switch to tower which I did but then no response despite the correct frequency - the co-pilot failed to switch frequency so I had to do it, I tried using SayIt but the relevant phrases for that frequency were not shown so no good, even when restarting P2ATC and reloading nothing worked. So had to abandon the flight. I did another flight later that day and all was fine.

Today all again was fine until I requested taxi - nothing, correct frequency and the Connect button showed green but again nothing was working - co-pilot not changing frequency or setting XPDR and again SayIt phrases not avaiiable. This is very frustrating as I have gone through the whole process of creating the flight Plan, setting up the aircraft connecting with my V/A and then setting up P2ATC only to find it's not working.

My last few flights were without P2ATC as they were quite long ones and I didn't want those issues during the flights.

I really want to use P2ATC but it's not working for me at the moment. Dave from P2ATC suggested a different version of XPUIPC which I installed but no change.

Has anyone had this before- any ideas how to resolve this - I wouldn't be surprised if it's my fault but I can't see what I may have done wrong - HELP!

Dave,

What SIM and Aircraft are you using?

What airport and runway?  What are the frequencies you are getting?

Some aircraft either don't allow outside programs to change frequencies or you have to set a configuration setting in the aircraft to allow that.

If you are on a valid controller frequency, the Controller Name will show below the frequency and the SayIt phrases will show, except if on ATIS where no interaction is possible.  If you let me know what frequencies you were tuning to at what airport, I'll check it out.

Also, it's possible that you are not fully connecting.

When fully connected, the Connect button will turn green and there will be 3  aqua colored lines in the speech text window, with the last one saying "Grammars Loaded".  You've already changed to XPUIPC 2.0.3.8, so that should be OK.

Some other things to check:

1.    Be sure you are connected to the internet. It must be a reliable connection.
2.    If it seems to partially connect try setting the Weather option to NOAA Real Time Weather and try again.
3.    English-US Language installed and set as Primary Language
4.    Working Microphone installed and set as Default Sound Input device in Windows
5.    Valid Call Sign – Try using the default call sign of Mfg: Beech; Tail Number: N431VB.  Press the Save button.
6.    Try running the program in Administrator mode by right clicking on the Pilot2ATC.exe file and selecting “Run as Administrator”
7.    If you have shortcuts or icons to the program, delete them first, then try running from the exe file as Admin.  You can recreate the shortcuts after it starts connecting correctly.

Thanks Dave - I will do the things you suggest.

I am using X-Plane 11:55 with the Zibo Mod the airport is stock X-Plane and I used Taxi Maint to update it with taxiways and runways info.

The Airport was EIDW - I will load the sim again and check the frequencies - that have worked but it's hit & miss, they worked a few times but just stopped at other times - nothing different.

The Co-pilot has been working fine - selecting frequencies, setting XPDR and replying to ATC - so it is working but seems to stop interacting for no apparent reason. The call sign I use - RYANAIR 23 has been working fine. Again the headset I have has been working fine - it is set as the default but as I mentioned even the SayIt option is not available which wouldn't need the mic..

Yes the controller names show so for example I was on Clearance then changed to Ground - the names showed - but no reply.

Not using any shortcuts. I do see the lines you mentioned when connected. My internet connection if fast over Ethernet.

I will try running as Administrator as you suggest.

I would like to know how to work around this having set the whole thing up and then it stops.

Thanks for your help

Dave

On the next flight where it stops working, shut down Pilot2ATC and email the most recent P2A log file to me at [email protected] so I can see if something is breaking.

P2A Log files are located in:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Logs
where <UserName> is your PC user name.
Portions of the path may be hidden by default, so be sure Windows Explorer has Show Hidden Items checked in the View tab.
