P3Dv5 Settings Pack by PES

Featured Replies

Over at simmarket I found an interesting guide/tool for P3Dv5 called P3D5 SETTINGS PACK by a developer called PILOT EXPERIENCE SIM.  It claims to be able to tell you everything you need to know about optimizing P3Dv5 and getting the most out of the sim.

https://secure.simmarket.com/pilot-experience-sim-pesim-p3d5-settings-pack.phtml

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it and if it is worth getting or not?

I'm always constantly trying to get P3Dv5 to run better and I think it's likely this guide may have some very helpful information that I may not know about.  I know I can find interesting things to try by doing web searches but one thing I've noticed is that trying to learn just by doing web searches, reading amateur guides and watching amateur videos is learning that way is a piecemeal approach and there will always be gaps in my knowledge trying to learn that way.  I was hoping this guide tool here may be a better approach.

The developer says "Reliability is the principal capacity of Pilot Experience Sim’s Settings pack regarding the thousands of hours of tests consolidating an experience gained over years of advanced flight simulation." which peaked my interest.

Hey Kalnon-

There is a wealth of info here on this forum to help you make your sim 'run better'.

This information will also help you understand what your sim is doing and why.
I've always looked at third party packages closely as you don't really know what they are doing. Changing one thing in a sim always changes something else. Best to know what that 'one thing' is so you can back track to it when 'something else' happens.

Cheers,

Mark

Yeah I know there is a wealth of information available all over the web but it takes endless hours of searching, reading, searching, watching videos and then searching again.  I was hoping to avoid wasting so much time searching, reading, watching videos, and trying to determine what you learned will actually work or not.  And as I said, learning by searching the web, there will always be gaps in you knowledge.  I'm always looking for that ultimate guide that tells me everything I need to know so I can spend more time actually enjoying my simulator instead of endlessly tweaking and testing it.

I haven't tried this tool, but you got me curious as to what they were offering.

Its on sale right now in Simmarket, so its probably worth trying if you are looking for a more holistic solution.

One thing I saw on their page for this product was mention of the DXGI fix. I wonder what this really refers to?

I know some of us came across this issue early on with v5.1 and v5.2, but I haven't seen so many reported issues with v5.3. Did this problem fade away or was their some ultimate fix out there that I missed?

Personally I never suffered a lot from this specific issue. I recall I have seen it once in all my years of simming and that was back on P3D v4.x.

Yeah I think for the current sale price, it might be worth checking out.  Maybe learn some new things I didn't know about too.  My thinking is that chances are I already know at least some of the fixes and tweaks the developer added to the product, maybe even a lot of them but who knows what else I can learn.  I'm a long time user of FSX and one thing that annoyed me is I would sometimes wouldn't find out about a fix or tweak or a tool or other helpful things until sometimes years later after seemingly everyone else found out about it.  I find that very frustrating when that happens.
