Live Traffic

Greetings. 
I am new to this software so I am trying to clarify a few things.
v1.8.1 I see flights on the ground, and I see them taking off and landing. However, I see no flight in the air. The manual says live airborne traffic will be shown within a lateral range 2-100 nm. Does it mean I am supposed to see traffic even while cruising outside departure airport hundreds of miles away?
Traffic Stream in the upper black field is green on the ground, but after reaching cruising altitude it turns yellow and live traffic shows 0 till I approach the destination. I followed Q&A and did step 10. Nothing helped. I spent two days troubleshooting and I still see no airborne traffic. 
Also, am I supposed live to see traffic in my TCAS?

No. You can only see aircraft visually up to 10 km.  Or you should choose an aircrfat flying in spot view mode ofcourse. But from the cockpit it is limited just as in real live. In the dark, it is better, due to the lights.

What is step 10 btw?  In the air you should set your lateral range higher, say at  least at 40 nm.  Or check the Auto (lateral range)  box. It hepls a lot if you fly the official airways and altitudes, otherwise you will not see many live aircraft.

Step 10 is the section 10 from Q&A (theres is link in this forum), basically how to troubleshoot if there is no airborne traffic in sight. 
I tried to fly with Auto mode, but I saw no traffic. I then changed to 100, same result. Yellow message Live traffic 0 even tho I saw tons of flights around me in RealTraffic and Flightradar 24. 
I did fly via published airwaves (based on Jepp). Also, TCAS is always empty, I only see vatsim traffic.

Then something is not right at your end..

What user aircraft are you flying? To my knowledge there are no aircraft with TCAS problems...

Did you try another part of the world, Europe or USA?

If it is the same, I recommend to re-install RealTraffic.

I did. I will reinstall it again.

V1.9.0, reinstalled RealTraffic as well. After 10,000 ft live traffic disappear.

Update. Cycled to Live traffic, closed RealTraffic. Started again, switched to PSXT. I see live traffic now in the air. Will keep an eye on it. 

I wonder why do I have to cycle this every time I am above 10,000ft to see airborne traffic. 😏

That should not be needed, there is still something wrong at your end...

Hello Nico, 

dont want to start new topis as my question is about LiveTraffic.

I install new version 1.9 working very well.

But I started a flight from LFPO to LFLL. All Live traffic Ok.

I use Automatic RANGE as I do all flight and stream it.

As I took off during the SID ,I had more than 70 traffic live its too much even if its beautiful, FPS go down too much.

Then at cruise it become normal and descent and landing normal too.

Did something in automatic range changed with new version ? 

Before during climbing the range automatic was good adjusted and I never had as much traffic as this.

Can I improve that .

OK. I have done several flights, so far v2.0 is working as expected. I see traffic on the ground and in the air. 
Q. Do I have to start RealTraffic in Spotter Mode first and then change to PSXT or I can start in PSXT mode right away? I noticed when I start in PSXT mode I see a message ‘Waiting  for data’ indefinitely till I cycle to Spotter mode first.
