some fsx_sp2 p-51 propeller textures are not smooth

Featured Replies

hello guys, have you noticed that the p51 mustang prop textures from the planes without special prop textures in there folder have hard edges.when i copy for example the two prop textures from the yellow version then the textures are smooth but with the wrong color.markus

how is it possible for beta testers to overlook such things ?which company has made the mustang ?this is the most annoying thing for me.is straight forward in the line of sight !?the yellow version for example is ok but the solid red one is awful.try yourself.

The planes without prop textures get their prop textures from the "Texture" directory. If you edit those, it will change for all the other planes that use them, too. I assume you are speaking about the sharp lines you can see from fuzzy to clear portion of the prop disk.Without any real analysis, I'd say the lack of transition into the white portion of the alpha channel portion of the texture is what is causing it, but I could be wrong. In my opinion, the prop disk is way too visible altogether. I'm no expert here, but, to fix it, I'd blur the edges of the white area of the alpha channel, and then darken up both the texture and alpha channel considerably. Maybe even make that whole white area in the alpha channel black. In my experience, the darker it is, the more transparent it is. I'm not sure what the purpose of that white area is.You can use Martin Wright's DXTBmp C:GraphicsMWGraphicsDXTBmpDXTBmp.htm and something like PaintS Shop Pro or Photoshop to fix the prop texture to your satisfaction.Make sure to back up the textures before you edit them!Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Ok, here are some replacement textures for the P-51 props. Back up the originals and place these in your Flight Simulator XSimObjectsAirplanesP51_RacerTexture directory.http://www.flyingscool.com/files/FSX/prop_P51_Racer.zipTry 'em out and tell me what you think.Personally, I think they should be even more transparent than I've made them. So I'd like to hear what y'all think.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180
