P2A has become a new challenge for me to solve after being a loyal user/promoter/evangelist for 3 years.  The last 4 months have been difficult.  I don't know why.  I've been chasing "readback incorrect".

  • discovery:  yesterday I found Speech Recognition settings as
    • Initial silence timeout 0
    • End silence timeout 0
    • End silence timeout-ambiguous 25ms    <----  I never remember fiddling with this setting
  • new settings:   throwing darts here    <---- I will leave it here for a bit
    • Initial silence  timeout 0   <---using the default 500ms 
    • end silence timeout 400
    • end silence timeout 400
  • the only way I can get readback correct is to see exactly what is expected, no deviations from the suggested speech, not even an extra vowel.  The only way to know this is to tail the log file using windows powershell  or use Sky4Sim in the cockpit which provides all the comms.   LOVE this add on. 
Sug Resp:  ~AMERICAN Ninety One  is cleared to Kilo Victor Golf Tango, climb via the HOBOW Three  departure , with the MISEN transition , then as filed.   Climb to Flight Level Two Five Zero via the departure. Expect higher clearances Ten minutes after departure.  Departure on One Three Three Point Eight Five.  Squawk Five Five Five Four. 20:27:18

My point is that P2A is unforgiving.  Is anyone else struggling?

The clearance readback is the most difficult phrase to get recognized, both because it is so long and also it has proper names that might get pronounced differently.  A recent change to the grammar does seem to have made it more difficult to get through it correctly.

The program currently has a "Destination Only Taxi Readback" option.  I am adding something similar for the Clearance readback to make it easier to get through it the first time.
