November 9, 200718 yr I have a friend who cannot load any gauges that requires fssound.dll. He has the fssound.dll in the main FSX folder as well as in the Modules folder. I have the same configuration. I can load any gauge that requires fssound.dll. My question is - Is there any log file or way to determine if a module such as the fssound.dll is actually loading in FSX? There is no error that shows. He just cannot see any gauge that requires fssound.dll. He has tried installing the dll in the dll.xml file also with no help. I do not have it loaded in my dll.xml. Any help sure would be appreciated. Thanks, regards, Bob.
November 9, 200718 yr Try to import the .dll file into the %apps%microsoftFSX folder and see what that does. worth a try :-smile12. type %apps%microsoftfsx in your "RUN" bar to bring it up. Good luck
November 9, 200718 yr Author Hi Kris. I looked in Regedit on my system and found the fssound.dll was registered in FSX. I asked him to check his registry for it. Will doing what you suggest actually add it to the registry if he does not have it registered? Thanks and best regards,Bob.
November 9, 200718 yr Good luck and hope you guys get everything work ok.. One other thing check in the .DLL file. Take a look at PMDG's forum people have been having problems with there .DLL file with certain programs and they go into depth about what they are and how to fix.. Happy simmingPMDG forum link for .DLLhttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=139385&page=
November 9, 200718 yr Sometimes DLLs don't load because they have dependencies on other DLLs. You could download depends.exe from http://www.dependencywalker.com/ and check whether the DLL in question has a problem loading a DLL it depends on.Cheers,Siggy Siggy Schwarz
November 9, 200718 yr Author Hi Siggy. Thanks. He did that and no dependency was seen as missing. Best regards, Bob.
November 10, 200718 yr Author Hi Kris. Thanks for the info on the article. I don't think that is the problem as I don't have it in my dll.xml file and neither does he. He has tried putting it in the dll.xml file too and it did not work either. He does not show fssound.dll as being registered at all. I do and mine works OK. We are no experts in the Registry. I found an article at:http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108199Would this work to register the dll in Windows? Does it have to be registered in the FSX folder,as mine is? Best regards, Bob.
November 11, 200718 yr Author Hi Kris. That line does not work. My, and my friends, exact path is:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator Xdo we have to type in:%apps%Microsoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator Xat the "Run" bar? What happens then? Should we get a place to type in fssound.dll? Thanks, regards, Bob.
