FSX Pilot - anybody using it?

Featured Replies

Came across this a few weeks back. Claims to work with MSFS 2020 but all the instructions are for FSX/P3D. Tried following them anyway but getting nowhere and the website seems well out of date also. So just curious if anyone has gotten this working?

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

I posted on here about a month ago, looking for an externally-provided AP that could 'take over' an aircraft that has no AP (and one cannot be added due to encryption).  Someone on here recommended FSX Pilot and I tried it out.  It works reasonably well but the flight plan import system is clearly based around FSX (when you could create/load flight plans once in the flight).  In MSFS it's very cumbersome.   When I did get it going, I "activated the flight plan" on the ground and believe it or not, FSX Pilot taxied to the RW reasonably well, took off, climbed to a preset altitude and flew to the FP destination.   That's when things fell apart.   At the destination, it did not descend until it was literally over the airport.    It attemped something of an approach, then at 500' just dived at the ground and crashed.  😄

If you're looking for something reliable and stable, it's probably not worth the time.   If you fancy some fun experimentation, it's worth a couple of hours of your time.   I've long since deleted it but if I remember from memory, I had to load MSFS, create a flight complete with a flight plan, save it, exit MSFS, then move that FP file onto my desktop, then start MSFS (again) with FSXPilot, then choose "import flight plan", selected the MSFS FP, then it converted that FP to it's own format and saved that (additional) FP, then I had to load that FP, then finally it worked.    You get the idea.  Clearly not made for MSFS, but by some fluke it works ...... just!

I'm use FSXPilot to control MSFS 2020, especially to fly bush trips automatically.

Stock planes work quite well. Non-standard plane will need customized parameter tweaking.
