Paying my respects, virtually, to (sacred) Mount Fuji...

I was triggered for this post because I'd not yet got to install the (optional) Japan Update on my Xbox/MSFS system...the constant reminders finally got to me...🙂...especially because, here is a region of the World, that, as far back as I can recall, had always been excluded from due attention in our SIMs, until we started seeing posts and images of Japan, from MSFS, here. From long past, I recall a couple of payware (Japanese) Airport add-ons maybe, but flying across featureless landscapes for hundreds (or even thousands) of miles, to arrive at a reasonable looking airport, was never much fun in Japan or elsewhere...at least from my (own) past SIM experience...

Another trigger for the post is bits of news I read about ANA (not directly related to the recent JAL A350 and the DHC-8 collision at Tokyo's Haneda airport, but resulting from traffic consequences of it on ANA that also has a Hub at Haneda). ANA (airline) has been always close to my aviation instincts since the day I'd caught sight of one of the very first 787-8s in the ANA colors, rolling out of those (wide) doors of the Everett Factory building. I still recall the murmur of excitement within the bus that was moving the visiting Tourists around on Campus. ANA, 20 years ago, in 2004, became the launch customer for the 787 with an order 50 a/c. ANA has been also the largest operator of the 787 and the 787-8 variant in the world (noting that, with new orders, UA and AA might have just overtaken ANA in the numbers, very recently). Finally, and most significantly ANA is dear to me because its 787-8 provided the username, here, for the aviation alter-ego...🙂...of yours truly...

As soon as I thought of this Japan Update, the first thing, that came to my mind is Mount Fuji (being a life-long mountain lover that I'm...🙂...). A symbol of Japan and its highest point, Mount Fuji, with that unmistakably symmetric cone-shape, and perpetual snow-coverage, has always fascinated (and inspired) the imaginations of artists, poets, and enthusiasts alike, with (reportedly) 1,300 shrines and temples in Japan dedicated to the spirit (and goddess) of Mount Fuji.

For this post, instead of the 787-8, which I don't have, I've opted to fly ANA's A320neo. ANA, a prolific A320(ceo) operator in the past, was the first, in Japan, to adopt the A320neo. So, here, I lift off with the ANA A320neo, from Haneda Airport (RJTT), directly headed for Mount Fuji. Conveniently, I didn't have to insert a LAT-LONG co-ordinate into the MCDU/FMS, because when I searched and inserted a POI (Mount Fuji) into the MSFS FlightPlan, the (MCDU) F-PLAN Page automatically (and nicely) showed up with a waypoint called "Mount Fuji" (see my Route on the Navigation Display, on-ground, pointed at Mount Fuji). I've mostly used "Managed Mode" of navigation for this simple FlightPlan, except for switching to "Selected Mode" near and around Mount Fuji (see my sequence of close-up pictures in shot #s (8-12); it was bit of an unnerving feeling to approach head-on and go over the top...🙂...) ...

Hope you enjoy these pictures of my excursion in Japan, to Mount Fuji (a unique mountain, graceful and calm, yet embedded with a fearsome element of volcanic wonder), and then back to land on (ANA's home) at Haneda Airport. Thank you for viewing.
