Steam only installed 1.9 gig on my pc?

Featured Replies

Setting up a new pc. I uninstalled msfs on old pc, then ran the as team install on my new pc. When it reached 25%, I left it overnight.

When  I checked this morning, it showed 190 G downloaded although I noticed no shortcut on the desktop and when I checked in the PC only 1.9 G downloaded. I have reset on line services and checked my MS account with no change. Odd as I had no problems installing on my old PC

V grateful for any help.

Have you tried running MSFS yet?

The initial download is basically the 'starter pack'.  You should have the now the sim shortcut on your screen.  Then, when you boot up MSFS, it seems to start up normally up to the 'checking for updates'...and then it finds around 130Gb of updates (basically, the sim).  It will then load up the full sim from within the sim...in my case, with full fibre ethernet connected, over the next 5 hours or so.

Just re-read - and see you don't have a shortcut.  From your MS Account or Steam account can you try to run it?

Thanks for the help. Afraid my old brain was a bit behind the drag curve last night and I forgot that I had to set the install folder twice - once for Steam and later for Microsoft. Think I have got it downloading to the right place now - fingers crossed.

BTW you are lucky to get full fibre - I am near EGXW and no sign of fibre yet

Yes - ours is only fairly recently.  I'm afraid UK is a bit behind the pack on such things.

That said, in reality, it doesn't make a huge difference with MSFS.  The Microsoft servers seem to be self-limiting much of the time - for every few seconds of a blistering 300Mbit/sec (the optic line is actually capable of 2000!) there were many, many minutes at 2.5Mbit/sec.  The whole download last week took pretty much the same time as last time I did it on dodgy copper internet...

Anyway, glad you've bottomed the issue 🙂
