Cargolux 748 on a short (fictional) flight...

Featured Replies

(Today I was reading a bit about Cargolux) ...Luxembourg may be a small country in Europe (with its capital city also called Luxembourg), but it is home to Europe's largest cargo airline, Cargolux. The airline is an exclusively 747 based carrier, with 15 744s and 14 748s in its current fleet. Significantly, Cargolux was the launch customer for the 747-8 variant, and was also the first to receive a 747-8 (a 747-8F freighter) in Oct. 2011. On the other hand, the first 747-8I (passenger version) would be delivered to launch customer Lufthansa, 7 months later, in May 2012.

So, here is short flight I did today with the (MSFS/Asobo) 747-8 in the attractive Cargolux colors, choosing Luxembourg (ELLX) as my departure airport. Next, while looking for a destination on the MAP, not too far from ELLX (while the RW 747-8F of the same registration (LX-VCA) is actually enroute, now, on a long-haul trip between Dubai and Luxembourg), I settled on Düsseldorf (EDDL), with nearby Brussels Airport (EBBR), as my close 2nd choice...Not surprising since Luxembourg is a landlocked country bordered by 3 other countries (Belgium, Germany, and France). My destination choice is partially motivated by the fact that, in RW, I have transited through Düsseldorf once...my only flight on a smaller LH a/c, an A320, was from Düsseldorf to Frankfurt. I now also recall that my onward connection from Frankfurt to Chicago, was on a LH 747-8I... nice to reminisce a bit...🙂...miss those travelling days...

Anyway, here, below, is a collection of pictures from a hypothetical (but complete) Cargolux 748 flight of only about 140 miles from (ELLX) Luxembourg to (EDDL) Düsseldorf (of my long past memory), with an enroute waypoint of the VOR (KBO) near Cologne Bonn Airport, inserted here into the FlightPlan at Pilot's discretion...🙂...

Hope you enjoy these pictures of Cargolux...Thanks for viewing...!
