Merci. I'll try these points.

I’ve been wrestling with what sounds like the same problem for the last couple of months and been through all the usual troubleshooting steps without success. For me, the problem seems to be related to the Xbox app and Gaming Services setup. My fix is to uninstall and reinstall the Xbox app, then launch MSFS from inside the Xbox app (the last part may be unnecessary). However, the problem returns whenever the PC is shut down, so now I put it to sleep rather than shutting down daily.

Roll on MSFS 2024 when I’ll buy on Steam and not have to deal any longer with this shambolic Microsoft delivery system. Lesson learned.

MS Gaming Services is known to become corrupt.  I've had the issue a couple of times now.

You could try this fix:-

https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/games-apps/troubleshooting/gaming-services-repair-tool

Also, three is a setting in Windows where you tell Windows to forget your logged in Microsoft account.  You then reboot, launch the Xbox app and the MS Store and will be prompted to log in to both, fully afresh,  This has fixed the issue that you've described for me before.

I agree with you on MS Store.  I will definitely be buying MFS2024 on Steam, as over the last 4 years I've seen dozens of examples where things were easier or more stable (concerning installation and updates) for the Steam users.   The whole MS gaming ecosystem is ridiculously complex, bloated and unintuitive.

@JYW Thanks for the hints Bill, I don’t remember if I tried the gaming services repair tool but I’ll give it a go next time. Getting Windows to forget the accounts sounds worth trying also.

Not sure if I am teaching you to suck egss or not. But when you open the MS Store, click the Library icon (bottom left) this opens  you Library. Then click Get Updates, top right.

If any Apps need updating, Windows will do this for you. Especially the XBox app (that launches MSFS, and seems to get updated often).

It's possible your trouble was due to an outdated App.

@Tinribs  Thanks; you're right, updating Windows, Store, Xbox and any other apps is the first thing to do at any sign of trouble with MSFS, and if that doesn't fix it I run repairs on all of them.  But this issue goes beyond that.
