February 15, 20242 yr [First of all, how do I quickly remove this Alien-themed "Dune Expansion" from my opening (MSFS) Screen, before my teenager catches sight of it, usurps my Xbox to play it, and interrupts the dead-serious flying of this aviator...🙂...? Oh well...I can live with it...I think...] Recently arrived in Deauville-Normandy Airport (see my previous post), having (personally) piloted the Air France HOP (ATR)....and after a good night's rest and a nice breakfast of croissant, pastry, and coffee.... 🙂...I next wished to take a closer look at this Airport itself and then enjoy some aerial views of this beautiful seaside resort and the famous Normandy coastline, washed by the waters of the English Channel... Please note, below, my choice of the livery for the DC-3, at this Pilot's discretion, of that of the Australian National Airways (= ANA, not to be confused with the other ANA, All Nippon Airways). My choice is influenced by my past investigation into this (historic) airline via earlier SIMs, as I was pleasantly surprised to come across this livery of the DC3 in my (virtual) hangar today. ANA goes back to the times and roots of Ansett Airways (later to become Ansett Australia), as one of the earliest (major) airlines in Australia and served for more than 2 decades as an independent airline, before been absorbed by Ansett Airways. The story of competition, alliance, and struggle for survival, within the trio of airlines (ANA, TAA, and Ansett) remains a most fascinating segment of the Australian aviation history. Anyway, ANA, in 1936, was among the first Australian carriers to order the DC-2s and DC-3s of the day and was also a key player in lifting the official ban on the importation of US-built commercial aircraft into Australia. It would then go on to operate more than 40 DC-3s in its fleet (one example of which (VH-ABR) you see below) was the 3rd DC-3 to be imported into Australia. It was named "Kanana" (meaning the "Quiet" one - with due respect for its noisy Twin Wasp Radial engines...🙂...), and also of interest is the "Royal Mail" emblem on the fuselage of this a/c. And, as I've taken these screenshots, below, of my tour along the off Deauville (up and down the coast), please note especially the 2 (overfly) images (shot #s 7/8) of the magnificent Pont de Normandie (English: Normandy Bridge), across the Seine River, just 10 miles northeast up the coast, from Deauville. There may be "37" (iconic) bridges across the famous Seine River, within the city of Paris itself, but this Normandy Bridge, seen here, is the very last bridge across the river, before it empties, dissolves, and disappears into the waters of the English Channel, and thereby into the vast Atlantic Ocean.... Hope you enjoy this collection of pictures. Thanks for viewing...! Edited February 15, 20242 yr by P_7878
