a humble feature request

Would it be too difficult to give the option to OVERWRITE when merging a template into the current setup rather than making a duplicate of each axis/button?  I know duplicates won't necessarily affect the behavior but I am far too anal retentive to allow duplicates like that.   I use a lot of templates and having to be so careful to prevent these duplicates has resulted in my making a couple of costly mistakes.

Thanks

You can "link" a template. Then the buttons and axis only exist in the template and won't be duplicated. When you then change the template, the buttons will be changed for every aircraft that has it linked.

The point of the duplicates is that they are - duplicates 🙂 You can change them at will for every aircraft.

But as there are some buttons that are the same for every aircraft, you can group those into a template of their own and just link it. A template doesn't have to be a full copy of an aircraft configuration, you can also just add 5 buttons to it (for example trim up/down, gear up/down and ATC confirmation)

Other than that you don't have to use templates at all. They are just a convenience addon. Personally, I always just use "Templates->Apply other config to this aircraft" when I get a new plane. I don't care about a few extra bytes on the disk 😉

I see your point.  I'll have to rethink my strategy on this.
