METAR cloud cover with default weather...

Featured Replies

I have been noticing that default weather in XP12.0.9 still fails, most of the time, to properly depict the cloud coverage reported by METARs in a given scenery area.

Yesterday tested it around where I live, with lot's of convective clouds all around ( SCT to BKN ) not being depicted at all ...

Using ASXP12 works beautifully, and I can get proper cloud cover according to the reference METARs...

Looking fwd for LR really giving more control to programs like ASXP so that they can further enhance these and other aspects of weather depiction and effects...

ASXP also tunes turbulence and shear, which is really necessary, although 12.1 may bring good news in this area too...

Laminar are well aware of the clod depiction issue, its one of the causes for the excess rain. Id expect a major fix next beta since they have mentioned it.

Yep, let's hope for the best with 12.1

ASXP12 can work in basically 3 ways....

"Standalone", where it controls the weather from ground to the top of the tropopause, "Live Hybrid" where ASXP12 takes control of the weather from ground to a user defined "transition altitude", and "Passive" where in as far as depiction goes default XP12 weather has full control, and ASXP12 only tunes various effects to overcome Xp12's default weather limitations.

I have been using the "Standalone" = ASXP12 full control with success, although under some circumstances and due to the limitations imposed by a proper SDK ASXp12 can cause some cloud popping ...
