December 6, 200718 yr I'm running out of room on my FSX HD. I want to add another larger HD to my computer. After the new HD is installed can I use Ghost to copy FSX from the HD that is running out of room to the new HD. Change the drive letter of the new HD to (G) which is the current drive letter for FSX and change the old HD letter to another unused letter. Will the system run FSX from the new HD? If this can work then I don't have to reinstall FSX and any addons etc. Thanks in advance to all who reply.Bill
December 7, 200718 yr Bill, this will work. You can copy FSX to the new HD, but then i would plug the new HD in the port where the old HD was connected and the old HD to another port. Perhaps you have to reinstall/reactivate an add-on, because of copy protection systems, which are based on your HW.
December 7, 200718 yr FWIW,UTX has a menu selection for relocating FSX. I haven't used it but by it's description it seems to automatically move FSX to a different location/drive on your computer. It might be worth the cost of UTX just for this feature alone. While your scheme should work, it may be fraught with problems. December 7, 200718 yr Author Wow,if that's true about UTX then when I upgrade to a new computer I should be able to move FSX to my external HD and then move it back to the HD in my new unit using the UTX feature? Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 7, 200718 yr Pardon my ignorance but what is UTX and where can I read about it.Thank YouBill
