Deleting Default Liveries

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to delete default liveries from the sim?

I've tried manually deleting some of the default liveries, as I never fly with them, however, the next time I load up the sim, I'm presented with an installation screen and the sim automatically re-loads these files.

Does anyone know of a way round this?  Apologies if this has previously been asked and answered...i searched, but couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance.  Cheers,

Calum

You can delete them using the Content Manager. Only way you can do it as far as I am aware. This way the Sim will (usually) respect your decision and keep them uninstalled. They will still show up as uninstalled with the option to reinstall, should you ever want to. I have done this with all the variants of the Asobo/MS liveries in all aircraft and they stay uninstalled, saving quite a bit of space.

That's brilliant Greg, thanks.  That seems to have worked doing it that way.

Only thing it doesn't seem to shift is the 'default' livery for each.  Thankfully all the other default liveries have now gone.

Thanks very much!  Cheers,

I think the base default liveries can’t be deleted as they probably also contain additional data for those aircraft. In other words, deleting them could break those default aircraft (or the entire sim).

Whilst you can't (or shouldn't) delete the base liveries in case of the above reason, you can at least alter the default order of liveries for those aircraft where the aircraft.cfg file is accessible.

In those files, the liveries are numbered sequentially from 0 upwards, with 0 being the base livery. You can simply swap the numbers around, so if you most use the third livery (which would have the number 2), change it to 0 to make it appear first in the livery selection list, remembering to change the existing 0 to 2. You can therefore reorder all the liveries for the aircraft in question and the base default files are unaffected.

Thanks for this and for referencing your other post.  It was really useful.

I've managed to delete the default liveries fine but i'm having issues changing the order these show up within the sim.

In my aircraft cfg for the a320, the only listings are for the one remaining default entry.  Three versions of it, it seems.  My other community add-on liveries are not noted in this cfg.  It results in the one remaining default livery showing as the first option for that aircraft, where my preference would be for it to be the last.

I tried adding the lines from the cfg of the livery to the cfg or the aircraft - but that didn't seem to work.  Cheers,

Calum
