September 2, 20241 yr Hello everyone. I've seen some discussions about the coverage of the RXP databases, such as this one: And this one: On 10/23/2021 at 7:09 PM, RXP said: Beginning with Cycle 1810 (effective September 13, 2018): Garmin will begin restricting the number of airports included in the Worldwide Navigation Database, based on the length of the longest runway. Heliports and Airports that do not contain a runway of greater than 5000 feet will be excluded from the Worldwide Navigation Database. All associated data with excluded airports (communication frequencies, approaches, runways, etc.) will also be excluded. Beginning with Cycle 1911 (effective October 10, 2019): Garmin will discontinue the Worldwide Navigation Database for the affected products listed above. The Transatlantic Database will be offered in place of the Worldwide Database. Other regionalized versions of the navigation database will remain available and will have no restriction on airports within the coverage area. I understand the DB is not as synchronized to the real world one as Navigraph's, and I accept that limitation (whatever its reasons). I usually fly in Argentina and Colombia, where there are several single-runway airstrips with runways shorter than 5000 ft. As I mentioned in another thread, I'm interested in purchasing the GTN750, but if I can't use it because, for example, all the small airstrips in Córdoba are excluded... well, you get my point. How is the airport coverage in Argentina and Colombia (and maybe other Latin American countries)? For, example, are airports like SKBG, SKSG, SACC, SACD, SAOV, SAOD and some other airports without ICAO (such as AGR, VGB and VRU in Argentina) included? September 2, 20241 yr Unfortunately, the Garmin database is not so great in Argentina. Many of the regional airports are not well represented. I use the TDSSim GTN. Like the RXP, it is based on the Garmin trainer. My TDS GTN subscription includes Navigraph integration but still there are many airports not listed. In your list above, SACC and SAOV are not in the Garmin/Integraph data. Of the 29 Argentine addon airports in my scenery folders, about 1/3 were not in the native GPS database. The only good news is they can be added as "user airports". With the ICAO code, the reference coordinates, a description, and a checkbox, they will show up in the GTN airport search. The not-so-good news is these user airports will not have charts or other info in the GTN. Hope this helps, sorry I don't fly in Columbia. September 3, 20241 yr Author Thanks for your reply. So, you say that checking with the Garmin Trainer directly I can see what airports are included, right? Essentially, yes. I am not sure if Navigraph adds any to the Garmin database but I doubt it. In other areas such as Norway and Morocco, I had to add less than a half dozen airports but in Argentina there were quite a few missing from the Garmin database.
