Problem loading DA Cheyenne

Recommended Posts

I downloaded the DA Piper Cheyenne from Aerosoft, and the installation went okay. But when I try to load the plane from the Select Aircraft dialogue I get the "Fatal error has occurred" message, and FSX returns to the desktop. Am I missing a runtime library or something. I reinstalled Vista less than a week ago, and I notice in the list of programmes installed that I don't even have the .net Framework. I have FSX SP2, an AMD 6000+, and an 8800 GTX.Has anybody got any ideas?Mike.

Disregard post. I read the other thread and I found an answer. Apparently the installation requires the MS VS2005 SP1 redistributable. Nice bird BTW!Mike.

Mike, whats the sounds like in FSX. I have it in FS9 and the engine sounds are 'ear damage'?

It sounds much like a twin turboprop I guess. The sound changes nicely as the blades grab the air when you power up the engines and start down the runway, which is cool. There's an "Active Noise Reduction" option in the configuration manager which simulates the sound you would hear while wearing headphones which could prevent ear damage if that is what you require, but the engine sound and other sounds, such as ambience and avionics, are separately configurable anyway.I haven't tried the startup sequence yet because I'm still working my way through the manual, but if the rest of the sound set is any indication then it is probably pretty good.Mike.

Well, there is an ANR soundset option for the FS9 version available in the setup window (shift-7). You can also reduce the engine sound volume in this same menu.I wonder if the planned for soon sp3 update for the FS9 version will include the same features as the FSX version (weather radar,...)Jean-Paul Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Core 2 Duo E6600@3.2Ghz - Leadtek 7950 GT TDH 512 - 4 x 1GB Kingmax DDR2 667 CL5 RAM - 2 x 250GB Hitachi T7K250 SATA2 AHCI - Creative Audigy 2 Value - Antec Sonata 2 Case - 450W Antec SmartPower 2.0 PSU - Samsung SyncMaster 204B 20" - Windows XP Pro SP2 - TrackIR 4 Pro - Saitek X52
