Center frequency overlaps local airport

Recommended Posts

I've run into this a few times over the years but ran into it again on a flight today.  Flying at cruise, no issues, get a handoff from ATC to a new center frequency.  Change to that frequency, in the standby window it shows it as a center frequency.  Toggle it to active, and its the same frequency but is now Airport X (in this case Munich Center became ETIH Info)   At that point, ATC wont acknowledge me when I report in.

Wondering what I should do in this situation, how to get around it, etc...

Flight was LFSB - EPKK.  Hand off was from Vienna Center (124.4) to Munich (120.65).  Munich is showing as ETIH Info.

You can use TaxiMnt to change the Center controller frequency to something not used in the vicinity.

In flight, you would have to pause the flight and restart P2A and then use the reconnect process to get going again.

After restarting P2A:

  • Load the same flight plan
  • Connect to SIM
  • File the flight plan
  • Tune to the new Center frequency
  •  Make initial contact call

You will also need to un-pause the SIM, probably right before you Connect P2A to the SIM.

Go to the ARTCC tab and position the map to include the area of the globe you are interested in.  Zoom in a little so you don't get hundreds of centers displayed and press the Show button.

Locate the center you want to change and then click on the name, it should display in the list on the left where you can change the frequency and Save the changes.

Restart P2A so the changes take effect.
