December 29, 200718 yr I seem to recall that the first time I ran FSX after installing, the application displayed information on the optimum display settings for my particular hardware. Am I imagining this? I don't recall if I had to choose a menu command/option to generate this information.I have re-installed FSX (after a clean re-build of XP Pro) and installed FSX SP1. When I started FSX, the optimum display settings recommendation did not appear, and I don't know how to get it. I would use this info as a baseline for choosing the various settings for my simulations. If anyone knows what I am talking about - or knows that I must have imagined the whole thing, I would appreciate your input. Thanks, Mark
December 30, 200718 yr After FSX is initially installed, FSX sets the best configuration based on your system (CPU plus Video Card plus Memory). These are your default settings for FSX. When you adjust sliders within the display settings and they are not what you desire, you can always click on the reset to default button under each tab to get back to your original settings. For those owning NVIDIA cards, NVIDIA has recommended display settings for FSX based on the video card you have installed - http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_fsx_techtips.html.Best regards,Jim
December 30, 200718 yr Author These tips are both cute and quite limited in their usefulness IMHO... they recommend sparse scenery no matter what card, including 8800..On the other hand, they also recommend limiting traffic which is prudent.. Bert
