How to enter a NAT track in flight planner?

Featured Replies

I'm actually trying to import (copy/paste) a flight plan created in Simbrief where the current track Eastbound that is used for the flight plan is marked as NATV. So it's using track V. I've downloaded the tracks in LNM, track V is there but when I paste the plan into the planner (edit flight plan window) it doesn't understand the NATV shorthand. Is there any way to indicate which track to use so I don't have to type the points in manually?

Plan: CYHZ IGTAS ELSIR NATV GISTI LUPOR ENJEX AVZAC INFEC JETZI AMFUL OCTIZ P2 SIRIC SIRI1H EGLL

Also, interestingly, if I try to use the calculate feature for the same dep/dest it doesn't use a single track even though the tracks are downloaded. It selects points over several tracks. I remember it used to do a much better job at this in the past. I'm using LNM v3.0.9.

You can use the track name like an airway. Below is a calculated plan using "NATC" (allowed notation since LNM 3.0.10.rc1). You can also simply use the name "C" in the flight plan route description.

When using the flight plan calculation: Ensure the flight level / altitude matches the track. You have to download the tracks from menu "Flight Plan" before using them. The calculation will use a matching track resulting in the shortest route.

OK, interesting. Just tried now using FL350 and NATV with fresh download of tracks. It gives and error: "Nothing found for NATV. Ignoring." If I type only "V" it works fine. This is for the above flight plan. I have the same settings as you. Not sure why it's not taking "NATV". None of the tracks work with this notation. If I use letters only it works. This is with XP12 database if that matters.

You need the above linked release candidate 3.0.10.rc1 for NATV to work.
