October 26, 20241 yr After much consideration, I have decided to buy the Quest 3. I am truly impressed. This is amazing and adds a whole new dimension to flight simulator. My system is an i7 13700K, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090. I will mainly use VR for IFR flights, particularly during departure and arrival. During cruise, I will likely switch to 2D mode so I can easily do other things on my computer. VFR flights might also become more interesting, now that it looks so much better. I’m still fiddling with the settings and figuring out which software to use. I am using the link cable to connect to my PC. I started with Meta Quest Link on the headset but found the screens very blurry. I couldn’t read what was displayed. After some research, I now have Virtual Desktop. This already looks much better, but still not optimal. There are also many different settings in Virtual Desktop. I’ve set the settings in MSFS to High. I’ve tried TAA and other settings. I’ve tested this on the PMDG 737, 777, FBW A320, and some default planes like the Cessna 172. Can someone explain to me and perhaps provide the right settings to make the letters and numbers on the screens sharper? Thanks in advance, Robin Edited October 26, 20241 yr by Robin29
October 26, 20241 yr Welcome to the amazing world of VR Flight Simming! This is a pretty good run through, covering different recommended settings for different spec levels of cpu/gpu and covering settings in some of the supporting programs as well as the headset itself. And yes - Virtual Desktop is the way to go, in my opinion - doing that transformed my Pico 4 experience. : Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset
October 26, 20241 yr I have a simlar config to yours and also been having a blast with the Quest 3 . Here are my MSFS settings: And my VD desktop settings: With those and a solid WiFi system, I able to achieve pretty good performance without sacrificing the readability. With your 4090, have you tried 'Godlike' on the Virtual Desktop VR Graphics Quality? On my Pico 4, running on a 4080, it made a big difference... I did, but frankly I could not tell the difference. What made a huge difference in readability for me was to turn off DLSS and use TAA.
