November 11, 20241 yr I think you’re doing a very good thing buying the simulator for your practice, it’s so beneficial for getting things straight in your head before you even turn up at the airport for your lesson. Anyway, when the time comes enjoy your first solo, it’s something you’ll never forget, it stays with you always, for the rest of your life. 787 captain. Anyway, when the time comes enjoy your first solo, it’s something you’ll never forget, it stays with you always, for the rest of your life. I can't wait for my first solo, this seems like the biggest milestone in my PPL training. Thank you for your kind words. Well, I think I figured out what is wrong with my RL/sim traffic pattern time - me. My real traffic pattern lasts around 6 minutes on average not 8, this is almost the same time as in the sim. Now I have cross-checked the data in TLB: block time 1 h, TTL 50 min, landings=8. This means around 6 min 15 seconds on average, but it is probably even a few seconds less. If I take into consideration all factors like weight and balance, weather, old engine, etc. the real-time and the sim time doesn't differ much. By the feeling, and after some practice, only the downwind leg seems shorter than in real life. All in all, I guess this topic can be locked now but I am really thankful for your responses and help. 8 hours ago, jon b said: The sim is just using maths on a 1:1 scale with real life so there is no reason it should be going faster than real life. I can only think if you’re doing real world circuits at this point in your PPL training you’ll have an instructor onboard and a full tank of fuel. Maybe your simulator aircraft has you solo with less gas and that’s why it’s climbing faster ? Thanks for the advice.
