Anybody else heard anything about disappearing LCD engine dials ? I had an issue before on the glass version where my out of date 750xi was causing the native aircraft glass to disappear. I used the new analog panel with the old radio heads and it worked fine, now I’ve tried it with the analog panel and GPS options and the LCD engine gauges have stopped working, as in they are blank . Even now when select the old radio head version the LCD is missing. Oh well.

A very sensible post and approach. Perhaps also a lot of people don’t realise the amount of hardware and software issues real aircraft are released onto the market with. They have gone through thousands of hours of test flying and have been worked upon by a highly technical workforce probably numbering in the tens if not hundreds of thousands. The nearer our simulations get towards real aircraft in terms of systems depth it’s impossible to believe a development and testing team of 10 or 20 people, or even much less , are going to get a 100% accurate bug free replica out of the door. The best we can hope for is a stable foundation on which to build and improve on once it’s released to the market and many thousands of simmers then get eyes on it. To summarise, if Boeing and Airbus with all their resources and years of development don’t release a bug free product, it’s unrealistic to expect a team of 10 developers to release a 100% accurate replica of a highly complex aircraft in 18 months.

It looks and sounds good and it flies nicely. I just use it for short inter island flight in the Channel Islands as flown by Aurigny Although technically not the correct variant. It does everything I need from it and find it worth the price. There is as far as I know no other 228 on offer , there’s usually a carenado sale every so often if you want better value later on.

I think it’s next in line for Bluebird simulations after the 757, although probably not before 2030 if it takes a similar development path to their 757

A couple of technical notes on my technique for starting pistons engines in the sim are as follows : Using the right thumb apply a gentle continuous downward pressure on the CNTRL key, once you feel the key is at the bottom of its stroke , using the right index finger quickly jab the E key. The engine should start instantly without further intervention and both finger and thumb can then safely be removed from the keyboard area.

And just to add congratulations for being one of the extremely rare developers to actually include the visual circuit speed/power/config diagram in the manual. This is essential, it really annoys me that developers seem to think everyone is born with an innate ability to fly their aircraft with absolutely no speed or power references. Yes the theory is you find your own manual online but a lot of the time unless it’s a specific training manual it won’t have circuit or approach diagrams

It’s not just an analog cockpit added on as an option is it, it’s a work of art in its own right. Very nice. I’m sort of glad the Got Friends Taylorcraft got delayed from its release today otherwise that would have been 3 hi fidelity GA add ons released 3 days in a row, I’m getting fatigued by it all.

I really don’t want failures and if I want a relaxing hour in the pattern I”ll fly a Carenado. However if an aircraft has failures available I’ll tend to leave them on as it adds an extra layer of realism for me and I’ll do what I’m supposed to do and keep an aye on the Ts & Ps etc. When failures firstbecame a thing in flight sim they were ridiculous and things were dropping off the aircraft every few minutes. I don’t want to see failures but just knowing they’re possible means I treat the aircraft a to more realistically. Sim routines in the. “ real “ world ( with some airlines) are also getting beyond a joke with the amount of failures. For example last year I had : approaching the airport just above minimum reserve fuel, overcast cloud at 500ft, ILS scheduled to be taken off the air for maintenance, a woman then collapsed in the rear galley, condition assessed as critical, I then lost both GPS. Then lost a main AC bus, Mayday called and got ILS maintenance cancelled , ATC deliberately kept high requiring GS intercept from above, followed by a 2nd AC bus failure. ( loosing 2 buses on a 4 bus all electric aeroplane like the 787 is a major issue.) All within a 30 minute window. Complete and utter negative training, if anything even resembling that had happened for real you’d be off work for years with PTSD

Yes, I have the Mad dog in P3D I’ve never flown, I have the Mad Dog x in MSFS 2020 and 2024 I’ve never flown. A couple of days ago I upgraded to the new 20th anniversary native 2024 edition so at least I can be sure the aircraft I don’t fly is the latest possible version 😂 (Nothing wrong with the aircraft it’s just it’s so complex it deserves time to sit down and learn how to operate it properly which I’ve never got around to. By the time the 40th anniversary edition is out I should be ready for a quick circuit)

Not flown today but last night session I made a mental note to keep a tiny bit of throttle on , otherwise it seems to get very nose heavy in the flare if you just chop the throttle to idle. I’m not sure how its done in the “real” world

I picked up the new DSD simulations Vortex aerobatic plane, it’s great, it’ll do that thing where they hang off the prop and hover. I don’t really know much about aerobatics but I picked it up as A) I wanted to support the developer , and B) I wanted to check out their quality of flight modelling ( it’s good by the way) Because C) looking on their website they’re developing a BAC Jet Provost and ……The BAC TSR-2 !!

I mean the subject matter , the 114 , is a single engine piston, it’s never going to set the world on fire with it’s performance. However it’s an absolutely cracking simulation of said aircraft and has that genuine “flying a real aircraft” feel to it I’ve been really craving recently. I’ve spent the evening flying circuits in the 114 at Guernsey and watched dusk turn in to night, I didn’t want to stop. I can definitely see what Developer Nick means when he says it has a warm cosy feel to the cockpit at night, paraphrasing. Each of my landings was slightly different, which is surely the sign of a brilliant flight model.I’ve not suffered the wheel shimmy yet .. which is surely the sign of brilliant technique 😉 The 114 aircraft is like a PA28R with a bit more character to it, I’d also put it up there along side the A2A Comanche. In fact I’d put it ahead as I can’t use the Comanche at the moment due to a bug in its flight model which keeps sending random violent heaves to my motion platform. The engine sounds are really, really nice too.

I have a phone number for you call when you’re ready to copy 😂😂 I rarely use autopilots in light aircraft and wouldn’t have known the difference until I was told, but I’d fully support JYW’s position here simply for the valid reason he gives here ☝️…the rest of it is so nicely done and immersive, it seems a shame to put in an unrealistic box. (which is a compliment to the developer’s work)

Many years ago I flew a Cessna 172 cutlass in and out of ALAs -approved landing areas in the outback of Western Australia. ALAs could be anything and anywhere as long as they met certain obstacle criteria. I used to go into some fairly rough landing strips , and the cutlass has got the most spindly retractable undercarriage imaginable, it looks like a mosquito with its legs trailing down. Anyway, the cutlass survived the abuse, so I guess most things are stronger than you’d imagine.

Oh I will , it’ll probably be based out of here……🙂 although I never feel 100% confident operating retractable gear off of grass.
