February 25, 200818 yr Hi there,I've never figured out why sometimes I can't seem to see some airplanes I install into the simobjects folder. I installed some Project Open Sky 737 aircrafts and they just don't show up no matter what I do. they are properly isntalled into simobjects but they just don't show up in the menu(and yes variants is checked). Anyone ever run into this and how do I fix it?
February 25, 200818 yr You don't say which operating system you are using, but I ran into this when going to Vista. I had to turn off User Account Control. Once the aircraft came up in the FSX selection, I could turn it back on again.
February 26, 200818 yr Hi,You must have panel and sound folders containing valid panel.cfg and sound.cfg files.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
February 26, 200818 yr Author Like Tom says you need a panel. Once the panel is in place you need the UI defined in the aircraft.cfg for each fltsim.X sectionExample Open up the aircraft.cfg and make sure these 3 lines exist ui_manufacturer=Airbus (Use your aircraft information) ui_type=A306ui_variation=Korean AirWithout these entry's FSX does not know how to list the airplane in the aircraft menu and it will not show. The aircraft menu in FSX is alphabetical from top to bottom, left to right. That means my Airbus will be listed very close to the top of the aircraft window list.If there is no thumbnail.jpg in the planes texture folder then no real picture will exist to show the plane. If that is missing you will only have a shadow of a plane with a "?" mark. However the UI data will exist so you can choose the airplane from the window list. hope this helps also
