No more menu CTD's! This works for me.

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks, I'm a happy user of fsx/Acceleration even with the menu crash problem some of us have encountered. Lately it started to really bug me so I tried some things to fix it.I found on my system that using the mouse to move through the menu seems to be the problem. Therefore, I set up my Saitek X-52 to allow me to go to specific menu locations by using a button on the controller. No need to change to window mode etc. Example: If i want to change airports, I just press the button I assigned for the Go To Airport acreen and it takes me directly to it. No ctd's at all. I've programmed all of the menu items I need and have not had any problems. Later I'll try navigating the menu with keystrokes and arrow keys to see if that works as well. For those who may not have tried it, you can navigate the menu by using the underlined letter shown for an item on the menu. Also, you can use the arow keys as well. No need to use the mouse until you get to the screen you want.If you have a Saitek X-52 (and probably X-45), you would program the keystrokes as a macro.Happy flying once again....

I agree with you, it a huge bug involving the mouse through the menu...It's the main reason I still fly in windowed mode....I don't know if it happens to ATI customers...

Does the CTD also occur if Vsync is turned off? Forced by driver and in the FSX.cfg:[DISPLAY] ForceFullScreenVSync=False
