Keys for headphone simulation do nothing?

I was very happy to see MSFS2024 has a headphone simulation option (some sort of noise cancelling although it sounds more like a lower volume setting). However, it's a 'system wide' option... Now there are keys to turn this option on and off (or to toggle it) but none of them work on my PC.

Has anyone been able to get those keys to actually work?
