mistolip started following A Total Eclipse of the Sim , MS Flight Planner , 30% of MSFS users only (mostly?) fly ONE aircraft...? and 5 others

I don't use it at all. Well, only to pick departure and destination. I create the plan in SimBrief and load it into MSFS2024 using the free SimBrief app on the MSFS2024 EFB. I only load it once I am on the tarmac and in the cockpit. The plan is then loaded into the EFB itself and in the systems of the plane in use. I only use the MSFS2024 free flight map to position myself.

I am the opposite, apart from the having fun part, haha! I can't stand it if a cockpit has a knob of which I don't know the function... I spend hours and hours watiching video's explaining every knob and switch and screen and option of the Airbus 320. Loved it. In my P3D days I only flew the (Majestic) Dash 8 and one of the reasons I loved it was that I was able to learn about the function of absolutely everything. The Airbus really stretched my limits and I don't think I acually learned everything about it. Life is soooooooo much easier and relaxed with the Vision Jet, hahaha! No real trouble mastering that plane! 🙂

In only fly the Vision Jet (MS Asobo version). Perfect for my kind of flying and the time I have for it. To me the VJ is some sort of mini-Airbus (which is my favorite airliner) and I fly it as such. Heavily leaning on the systems, flying IFR usually, using published procedures (replaced Navigraph with the new MSFS2024 LIDO charts though!) but all that without the need for a co-pilot and only doing short routes (around 200 nm). I could do that with an Airbus too (I own the Fenix but haven't touched it in ages) but it would be quite unrealistic and still take too much time (I hate starting a flight at the runway: cold and dark to cold and dark everytime for me). I have to add/admit I've also flown the Joby a few times since the release of MSFS2024 but once I figured out how it worked I haven't flown it much, really. Nice for some sightseeing but sightseeing gets boring pretty quickly. Whenever I do have time to fly I like to do complete A to B flights from cold and dark to cold and dark (always using BATC). (Haven't even looked at the careermode or any other mission-like stuff once.)

FlightFX - what sort of level are they?
mistolip replied to rondon9898's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
I have only flown their Vision Jet and I'd say FlightFX sits somewhere between Carenado and the better ones like A2A. Not even close to HotStart though: way too many things not being simulated. And weird things are done to overcome certain problems. The HJet seems to be better but from what I know it's not actually developed by FFX: they mainly are the publisher. It took MS/Asobo/WT to make the Vision Jet shine: their MSFS2024 version finally removed some weird things and added a lot of realistic features. Imho the MSFS2024 version is getting a bit closer to A2A-quality. Not there yet though. But certainly better than the FFX-version. -
VNAV departures for G3000
mistolip replied to Captainsheepdog's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Afaik it only works for descents and arrivals. I always climb in FLC mode. But perhaps it's airplane dependant: I only fly the Vision Jet. -
BATC - not quite convinced yet
mistolip replied to brucewtb's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Well, in all honesty... I love BATC and won't fly without it but to me it's mainly an 'immersion adding addon'. More so than a reliable ATC addon. I do listen to what BATC tells me but whenever I think ATC is wrong or it doesn't do what you'd expect I simply ignore it. I often cut off too long STARs by simply flying straight to the IAF and switching to tower: BATC doesn't mind AT ALL if you do that and simply keeps talking to you as if nothing has happened. Of course this is a big shame but it is what it is and I've accepted it. I do like the immersion BATC gives me too much to not use it anymore. And another thing in all honesty: I doubt if BATC will ever be 'perfect'. I know the regular answer to any of the common ATC-problems is 'Yeah, well, what did you expect, it's EA' but I've been using BATC since the very first beta (I was one of the first to join) and seeing they still haven't fixed some of the very basic ATC stuff after all this time... well, I really doubt if they ever will. Time will tell. But I do think BATC will remain some sort of EA forever. -

Yes, and it's been like that since they added those voices. Apparently it's pretty hard to correct. But I prefer the non-accent voices anyway. I just pretend every pilot and every ATC-employe has had a mandatory course in proper English. I rather hear everyone speak proper English than gibberish. It doesn't spoil the immersion in anyway. On the contrary. -

Auto respond will ALWAYS be the same voice (being the one you select), which is obvious and to be expected. The controller and other (AI) pilots are all using different voices on my PC... and that's with basic voices and accents off. Yes, after a while you do start to recognize voices because the amount isn't unlimited, but it doesn't bother me at all. With accents on you'd expect voices to be even more varied (because you are using a much larger pool of voices) but in practice this isn't the case (for me) because per region the amount of accented voices are quite small and you get the same voices over and over again much sooner. When you only use English voices, no accents, the voices sound a lot more varied to me. -
Map Flightplan in FS 2024
mistolip replied to jcomm's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Nothing. Works like a charm with MSFS2024. I never use the MSFS2024 planners. I only use the online planner every now and then to look for nice departures and destinations (which is more convenient than it is with the SB map). -

Not exactly. The first 5 options are for basic (US and UK male and female and AU male): the voices that will only work with Premium will show 'Premium only' behind the names. -
Hm, I don't think you really had to remove the entire 2020 OCI directory and download everything from scratch again... When I switched to MSFS2024 I simply 1. downloaded the beta of the AIG manager, 2. copied the AIG files to the correct folder and 3. IIRC ran the manager to update a few things. No need to download everything all over again. But well, it won't hurt. 😉 And I only have AIG installed with BATC: I see no need to also download and install FSLTL. AIG has thousands (literary!) more liveries and models than FSLTL so imho FSLTL is only worth the trouble if you do not want to install AIG. AIG makes all other similar addons redundant.

I know. Only the first line of my post (which you didn't quote) was meant for you, haha! -
A Total Eclipse of the Sim
mistolip replied to Greazer's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Hm, well, there actually are people who did try it and went back... so I wouldn't bet on it. 😉 I myself installed MSFS2024 on day 1 on a freshly installed copy of Windows 11, uninstalled MSFS2024 and got a refund on day 2, rebought and reinstalled MSFS2024 again on day 3 and never looked back. SU1 made it a lot better and SU2 improved it even further. It's absolutely bloody brilliant for... (!) ... my kind of flying! I guess it's less brilliant for people who use the sim in other ways. I myself only (and really absolutely ONLY) fly the Vision Jet in Free flight (never even touched the career mode or anything) and absolutely love MSFS2024. The graphics are soooooo much better, I love the EFB (specially after SU2) and the LIDO charts (bye bye Navigraph!), the default Vision Jet blows the payware version out of the water, loading times are much better (SU2 shaved off another minute and the sim 's ready to go after just 2 minutes now) and... it's only just begun!!! Still, I do understand some of the negativity... as I said: MSFS2024 works fine for my kind of flying but I am sure others may have big problems with certain things that still need to be fixed. But I am sure that within a year or so most of those problems will be fixed and MSFS2024 will be the default sim for most simmers. -
Attacks on BATC...Are they warranted?
mistolip replied to knich's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Afaik the actual dev team is 2 people. The update is indeed huge but it's been worked on for quite a while and has been in beta (experimental) for quite a while too. -

mistolip replied to knich's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Truth be told, I can hardly understand live ATC even if it's perfect English LOL In that regard BATC sounds way too perfect LOL But anyway, since I stopped using accents for the basic voices (which, as we all know, actually aren't accents at all) the BATC voices are absolutely great and do the job perfectly. I noticed btw that even when you use English voices only you do get a slight accent every now and then in certain places... but I do not mind that at all because those accents really seem to be (very slight) accents and not the fake accents the 'foreign' voices have.
