I am trying to add a button assignment in AAO (latest version and msfs2020). Under the device choices I currently have any, keyboard, mouse, and voice as choices. Under hardware changes the stream deck xl appears in the connected devices list. How can I get the stream deck to appear under the device drop down list when trying to make button assignments?

That is not how the StreamDeck works, it is not a "button box" = not an input device of any kind as far as AAO is concerned.

You need the AAO plugin for the StreamDeck, then you could create "Button" actions on the device. But in most cases it is more convenient to use the other actions of the AAO plugin directly, without the detour through a button assignment.

The plugin is avalilable for download on the axisandohs.com website and on flightsim.to (the to site also has a lot of ready-made StreamDeck profiles that make use of the AAO plugin)

yah i have and use the plug in to run scripts via button pushes. I was just wondering if there was a better way to implement the button pushes.

Can you define "better", what would you expect to improve over what you are doing on the StreamDeck directly?

Button assignments, while possible with the "Button" SD Action, are quite limited IMO.
