(FS24) iniBuilds A330 - Chicago to Frankfurt ...sort of ...

Featured Replies

[First of all: An "Alert" in advance...🙂...! Today, driven by a personal factor, I wished to fly the iniBuilds A330, for my 2nd time in MSFS2024. but alas...I ran into an unexpected (and unpleasant) surprise... finding that my iniBuilds Airbus a/c have developed a defect since the last time I'd flown them after the first MSFS2024 Patch 1.2.7.0 (rather flawlessly, I must add).

Basically, the flightdeck (glass) screens, in the Airbus SIMs, now exhibit (ungainly) white patches on the up-front avionics displays (see e.g., shot #2 below). A quick on-line search revealed that this anomaly, also experienced and reported by other users, has been introduced during the 2nd MSFS2024 patch (I believe, it was 1.2.8.0). It's a little disheartening how such (glaring) defects are not caught in advance, which could be instantly detected by merely loading these Airbus a/c into their opening cockpit view, without even having to test them in the air. Now, since, there will not likely be a MSFS2025...🙂..., they will hopefully fix this bug soon, while advancing their (flagship) latest version MSFS2024 forward, rather than taking such backward steps. It's just ironic that I'd flown all the iniBuilds (MSFS2024 default) Airbus a/c a short while ago (had also posted about them), and they had all performed so well for me (in Xbox). Anyway, we now know for sure that many airliners are not being properly tested (if at all), before being streamed into (and made available for) MSFS2024 releases and patches...Oh well...we'll see how it all goes forward...as long as MSFS remains alive and well...🙂...for all of us...]

Now, back to my personal trigger for today's flight. Because a family member would be shortly travelling the KORD-EDDF (Chicago-Frankfurt) route shortly, I wished to replicate the exact (RW) route on my desktop today...🙂...Though I am not travelling myself, this is a (long-haul) leg I've flown umpteen times in the RW in various a/c (330, 340, 747, 777, 748). Today, on checking the (Lufthansa) waypoint routing for this week, on FlightAware, that LH is using for this long-haul leg, I found the following for one of the scheduled flights for later this week:

"EBAKE WISMO POSTS PADDE SVM Q907 MIILS N329B ELSIR 5000N/05000W 5130N/04000W 5300N/03000W 5400N/02000W DOGAL BEXET MORAG NUCHU L607 KONAN UL607 REMBA UL607 SPI T180 NIVNU T847 IMCOM"

I pasted this waypoint string into the "SimBrief" Route box and then uploaded the output into my iniBuilds A330 MCDU, via its on-board EFB. You can see this route in my shot #1 below, in the SimBrief output display (I've also roughly shown the flight in the MSFS (default) EFB below). The (RW) flight originates at 4:00pm (KORD/local), so, for my flight, I also set the departure time to 4:00pm (these days, daylight is so quickly fading into darkness in mid-winter here, around Chicago). Indeed, as I got my feet wet flying (eastward) over (and into) the Atlantic, the dusk light in the horizon dwindled pretty quickly into darkness (see a few shots below).

The (RW) LH flight is actually flown by an Airbus 340-600 (not by A330; though in the past, the LH A330s were also routinely plying this same route). So, for my (virtual) flight today, I've deployed the iniBuilds A330-200 here, a (SIM) aircraft I like a lot. Also, in spite of the anomalous cockpit displays, I wished to continue on with this iniBuilds A330, to see how it (otherwise) operates, and if anything, else is behaving strange from my earlier (near-perfect) experience with this A330 SIM.

I wished to complete the flight at Sim Rate 1x, but during a pause for dinner...🙂...when my A330 was tracking to the oceanic waypoint (5130N/04000W), steady at the RW cruise altitude of FL370, I noticed that my Xbox/MSFS2024 had gleefully reverted to the starting free-flight menu, for some reason. I could not recover the flight, while it was getting late in the night, so, I terminated the oceanic crossing at that point. Instead, I jumped to the final approach (and touchdown) phase by recreating an independent flight into EDDF ILS Runway 07 (see my final images, below). Please note that the normal arrival time at Frankfurt, for the (RW) flight, is about 7:30am (local). So, I, too, set my (virtual) time for approach to about this time, which is what I distinctly recall from my RW flights...being served a small breakfast sandwich, prior to putting the seat upright and stowing away the tray table for landing...🙂...as the daybreak twilight begins to brighten up into the golden glow of the morning sunlight, on the eastern sky of Frankfurt am Main...situated on River Main...

BTW, you'll catch glimpses of the Main River (of Frankfurt city) on several of my landing phase screenshots. Now, even if you're not local to U.S....🙂..., you might have heard (or flown) the River Visual approach into (KDCA) Washington National Airport, from the north, which follow the path of the Potomac River before landing. Likewise, I discovered today, that if you follow ILS Rwy 07L into EDDF/Frankfurt, essentially, you'll be following the Main River, here, which will also lead you very near the threshold of this 07L Rwy.

And, except for the anomalous white patches in the cockpit, the plane (otherwise) behaved itself as it should...🙂...in MSFS2024. I'm looking forward to a (quick) fix of this (textures) issue for the iniBuilds' (default) Airbus airliners (that I'm very fond of). This bug, on brief on-line investigations, seems to be "again" (generally) attributed to "Streaming" issues with MSFS2024 aircraft...we'll see...

Though it's not a complete (long-haul) flight today as I'd originally intended, I hope you still enjoy this amalgamation of the images, from my two separate flights today, with this iniBuilds A330-200. Meanwhile I'll be soon looking forward to getting up a couple of times in the middle of the night...to see on FlightAware where the actual A346 might be on its route over mid-Atlantic...🙂...during the RW (upcoming) flight of the family member...

Thanks for viewing...!

Thanks a lot for the comemnt, pmplayer...!

Glad to report that, after the cosmetic fix/patch of today (?), at least, my iniBuilds Airbus flightdecks have come back to normal appearance ...🙂...per below...but much more is needed for MSFS2024...
